By December then? I think the plan would be to charge Kav in a state like Maryland with no statute of limitations. Then they can impeach him before he is seated. But all this time and expense could be avoided if he just withdrew from consideration. Maybe Trump will withdraw his nomination in a last minute play for the female vote? Any Trump impeachment would wait until the new Congress is seated. But it's quite likely Mueller's report will be out by the end of the year. Then we'll be handicapping chances of a Pence Pardon. :D

Watergate took two years but this is a much more complicated investigation, so I've been very impressed with how rapidly Mueller and his team have been able to come up with indictments and pleas, and now sentencing. Pretty impressive!

The play here is to have him step away and bring in a woman nominee. The GOP is risking a lot trying to assist Trump in circumventing justice by appointing a lackey.

That is an interesting idea. I completely agree, from my non-party affiliation viewpoint, it seems the GOP is risking a lot to ram this Kavanaugh nomination or any other unpopular male lackey through. It doesn't make sense to me. I would think they'll be pressuring Trump to withdraw Kav. But I think they are under time pressure. They have to get a nominee confirmed and voted on before the new Congress is seated, or the Democrats will block any "anarcho-white- nationalist" candidate pleasing to the Federalist Society, the "Freedom Caucus," and Trump -- Trumps only requirement being whether the guy/gal will be "loyal".

They could get a lot of brownie points before the midterms by choosing a far right female candidate -- maybe one of those Fox News Host "Babes" or Hannity's wife? -- and making a good show of it even if they had no chance of putting her on the Bench. Maybe someone really hot in her mid- twenties would be really strong among both the female and male base voters. I would think, in an emergency like this, that too much attention need not be paid to literacy. I mean, what would be the harm of a Betsy DeVos on the Supreme Court for the next 40 years, if push came to shove. (They could just wipe their ass with ABA vetting. There is no constitutional requirement that the Justices have studied Law is there?)

But could they do the whole thing before the Congressional recess. They have to take time off to campaign. And then there is Christmas. If anyone can find a way to do it, it would be McConnell -- even if he has to burn the Constitution, he'd probably find a way. He doesn't seem to be held back by pesky rules or tradition.

The only pattern I am seeing here is politically motivated women coming out of the woodwork after Kavanaugh is nominated telling outrageous fables backed by no evidence or facts.

Interesting to note that Avenatti received over 1300 letters/emails from women claiming that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted them in his youth. Similarly a Senator noted they have received thousands of letters from women claiming that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted them.

Based on these assertions Kavanaugh must have been screwing about 10 girls per day in his youth. I don't know when he found time to study or play sports.

    evidence?

Those 1000s of letters have to be ignored obviously. There is no reason to throw common sense out the window. And where did you read that. zero-hedge :D

The Judicial Committee can not afford to shift their collective brain into neutral and idle on here. Let's take a little risk, and assume that at some point they'll start acting like adults.

There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that any of the statements from these politically motivated women is factual.

Normally I would be the first person to support a women with assault claims against a powerful male political figure if there was a shred of realistic evidence to support her account.

You can review my earlier comments on Moore where I stated he should step out of the race based on the claims -- of course now that Moore lost it appears most of those claims are falling apart when exposed to sunlight in courtrooms.

However this political smear campaign against Kavanaugh -- unsupported by facts -- undermines our democracy and brings government to a new low.

PATTERN! and the pattern it has been backed up by others who knew him. Watch the hearing tomorrow if you can, assuming it goes off as planned. There may be a last minute rescheduling. Lots of new developments it seems.

A pattern of false accusations equal the truth now? This is getting way too crazy.
