Good observation. There is no more "establishment" candidate possible than Kavanaugh. When you consider Kavanaugh's unpopularity*, and add to it the absurdity of the Senate Majority Leader, "Mr. Establishment" in the flesh, guaranteeing on National TV that Kavanaugh will be on the Court before the hearing has concluded, it naturally raises the question, "How does McConnell know he'll be confirmed?" Could it be that the hearing is just a sham? Then you have these crackpot conspiracy guys and anti-establishment tea party folks falling over themselves to, as you say, "gloat over a Bush lackey!"
