Strangely, I agree with most of everything what you have said.

Since Rove is against it, we can bet there is something negative in it for the Reps. here is how I see it:

    1. If Trump keeps gaining popularity AND stays in the Republican party, he can gain POWER. And Rove and the establishment is not about sharing power with Trump, who might actually do something sensible for the working men.

    2. If Trump breaks away and stays and runs with the Tea party, that would have a dividing effect on the voters and Trump can end up being the Nader of 2012, taking away votes from the Reps.

Either way, it is not good news for Rove, thus his POV.

  2. It's negative for the entire political ruling class if this was to turn out true.

    It's not rocket science.

    Another desperate plea?

Wow, it's really an eye opener to witness how visibly shaken and intimidated the left is. I wonder why? I mean, is Obama really less popular than Bush of '04 was? What are the so scared of? Any ideas?

What did I say? The Donald is basicly blackmailing the Reps:

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20053067-503544.html

""I think the Republicans are very concerned that I [may] run as an independent," Trump said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. "I could also possibly win as an independent, otherwise I wouldn't do it. I'm not doing it for any other reason. I like winning."
Trump said that given the large segment of American voters who now identify as independent voters rather than as Democratic or Republican, "I'm sort of convinced you can actually win nowadays as an independent."
He added, however, that he would have reservations about an independent candidacy because his support comes largely from conservatives, and he does not want to splinter the GOP vote and then lose the election.
"The concern is that if I don't win, will I run as an independent, and the answer is probably yes," he said. "That bothers me only from the standpoint that if I don't win, we're not going to get a Republican, and Obama gets re-elected."

    -------------------

So he is saying: Make me the Rep nominee, or I will screw up your chances as an independent.

  5. You know when liberals start becoming concerned with the discrediting of the repub party, the base hits are scoring points.
