Trump is driving people away from the republicans and blowing democrat enthusiasm through the roof. She’ll appeal by having a pulse and not having a stupid haircut. No. Harris is going for the whole thing, not that she won’t VP but the 2020 setup is looking a lot like 2008. There’s so many democrats because Trump looks like lunch meat.
Your ilk is/are going to end out seeing a movie that you have seen before if you do not smarten up. As in 2016 you are fully committed to approaching the election with the assumption that you can put any of your many losers up on the ticket and they can beat Trump. Big mistake but you gotta do what you gotta do. You should be approaching the election with the assumption that you have to be absolutely sure that you have a high, high, high quality candidate and that it will be a fierce fight to the end. Otherwise, you are going to be in a fetal position on election night, just as you were last time. First of all, Trump can fight plenty hard and get plenty of votes. You might be able to beat him but you are not going to just pull any old clown out of your clown car to do the deed. Second of all, we dont know what Trump's status is from month to month. When he is at a extra low point, your ilk begin to feel smug and think you are about to shoot fish in the barrel. What you ignore or never knew is that there are others- Marco Rubio being one- who are watching him like a vulture and if he falls from low to ultra-ultra low due to some fiasco, then he will run against him in the primary. So if you have a dumb bunny or one of the very old rerun farts as the nominee and for whatever reason Trump does not run or he hits an ultra low patch due to "events" then you are going to be in an entirely different race- but one where you calculated your odds against Trump. Please- everyone spare me the hate mail on Rubio- got it, but I will say again that that has nothing to do with whether he would run or not. Trump can run a good campaign but he will get primaried if he falls too low and he - as the dems- should make no assumption about being invincible either. You also need to watch out about some dem progressive wackjob going third party and diluting votes, while the dems have one of their losers on the ticket. Watch your arse, White Boy. Many ways to take a beating. You put up a dogshit candidate thinking that 2020 can't be lost and you are going to need to be hospitalized on election night. Just looking out for you.
Just a warm up for 2020. 2018 popular vote for the House Democrats 60,727,598 Republicans 50,983,895 2018 popular vote for the Senate Democrats 53,044,160 Republicans 34,948,225
Yeah, ok. Likewise. There will be a very crowded field and there will be plenty of duds for the Dems to choose from and yeah Warren, Gillibrand, Booker(whose coming) aren’t going to smack Trump around with the force a Harris or Holder would be able to but the table as it’s laid today certainly favors democrats. Trump has been a disaster. He’s squandered the strong economic conditions he’s inherited, alienated our allies, paid off the wealthy , ignored the kitchen table issues of healthcare, debt, retirement, it just goes on and on. Even if aRubio primaries are gets the nomination he still has to carry all the garbage Trump, Ryan and McConnell piled up since 2017. But none of this matters right now, you’re focused on Kamala Harris and whether she dance to salt n peppa because she has some soul and you’re a crab. Point of the story is Harris is fine. She has plenty of ammo against trump and his weak minions. She also has a viable path to the dem nomination. As to a dem running a third party, I can see Gabbard going that way, I can also see Kaisich going that way too. So now what?
I get that Harris is your girl and that's fine, but I don't see anything there. That doesnt mean she wont go far. She could be a zero in the dem party and if she is able to check off the right identity boxes, then she is good to go, even if she is a zero. A while back she was supposed to be some super looking woman so she had that and Obama loved it but the bloom is off that rose now. And why you think she is better able to stand up to Trump compared to Booker I dont get either. When she gets aggressive it is just a bitchy, whiny, faux outrage thing. Not a problem for Trump to deal with. She walks and talks like Sherrod Brown's VP so she is going to be around for a while. She needs to fully announce and then get out there. Just sayin, I follow some of these clowns a bit and she is not very bright. But I accept the fact that she is there for the long haul in some shape or form. Gawd, please do not let it be as Attorney General. Yuk!
Booker isn’t a fighter, he’s a complainer. Trump’s a complainer too. Harris is more serious than you give her credit for. She would make a fine AG or VP and an alright president. Certainly would not be the walking disaster that Putin’s asset is.
Harris would not be headed anywhere if she were not semi-black but she is, so there we have it. Even if she is more competent than I give her credit for, it is certainly not at a level that would put her above others. Ditto for the Castro boy. No reason to even look at him if he were not hispanic. He has some skills and background I spoze but you could throw a rock in DC or some other concentration of power and hit someone with as much talent. The dem party is an identity politics game and I accept that. If one of them turns out to be an extraordinary campaigner as Obama was, well then we will notice. Time for some of them to get going though. Some of them already have to overcome what we do know about them already.
Let's not forget that many of these "candidates" realize that if they spend the effort now in campaigning or announcing when there really is no competition, they get to establish a strong base for themselves. When November - December 2019 rolls around and they have been firmly established the end game is either the nomination or to make such a good showing and then throw support behind the actual winner to get them in office in 2020 that they then land a cushy Cabinet position a la Hillary, Ben Carson, etc...
