I realize Democrats are much worse in this area... Their whole lives are based in telling other people what to do and trying to force other people to live and think as they do. But republicans commit the exact same mistake, even if it is not so intensively, but that doesn't make it right. One error doesn't justify another... And this, IMHO, is part of the reason the republicans gave away so much power to democrats throughou the time...(unfortunately)
Let me play devil's advocate: Dems core on this issue is make sure abortion is legal and accessible and safe. GOP core on this issue is telling women they cannot have an abortion as it is morally wrong and want to make it illegal.....oh except in cases of rape, then who cares. Which party is the "telling people how to live their lives party"?
Well, you are using your first year law school lesson, which is that he who gets to frame the question, controls the answer. Thus, you are asking which of the two parties is right. In the real world, however, there is a legitimate debate about whether there are two or three parties involved in the outcome of an abortion- especially as the dems advance into allowing post-birth "abortions." Last I knew, a person born alive in this country was known as an "American citizen" who has rights and entitlement to state protections superceded the mothers. I know that- although they are occurring- that is an extreme form and most are at earlier stages- but if dems think that that is acceptable why even bother to explore w One of the parties, loses their life in the decision by the mother, which most certainly is a form of imposing their moral code on another- at a minimum. I will leave it there.
I am framing the question straightforward, not sure why it was not easy for you. I never asked which of the two parties is right, I asked you which of the two parties is telling people how to live their lives. Pretty easy. Then you went off on post birth abortions which is not part of my question. A mother with a 3 month old fetus wants an abortion. Which party is telling people how to live in this scenerio? Where in the Constitution does this scenerio give rights that supercede the mom's choice as you indicate?
A The premise of your question is that there are "two parties" and I stated that there are arguably "three." And you asked "which party is telling people how to live." And, I will say again, that telling one of the parties that they are not going to live their life is also a way of dictating how others are going to live/or not live as is the case. Work with it a little. I addressed your post. If the answer was not convenient for your script, then so be it.
You proved my point then. GOP wants to tell people how to live their lives just as much as the Dems but you only see it one way. Also, unless you have some new medical and legal analysis that proves a 4 month old fetus has a right in the Consitution, then Roe v. Wade is still the law of the land. What is the legal basis for claiming Dems have killed millions of infants then. That is your personal opinion not your legal opinion. My legal opinion is what the current law is and what has been upheld for over 40 years.
Yes, there are many instances when conservatives object to the taking of a life and are willing to enact legislation to that end. And yes we know that for you lefties everything is relative and based on how you feel and your situational ethics of the day. Conservatives tend to be live and let live types in areas where no one is getting hurt or any harm being done. Lefties have an endless supply of laws and regulations that want to pass just because they think everyone needs to be hip and progressive like them. To your ilk, letting a woman abort a baby who is already born is just one more choice that does not involve anyone or thing other than how the woman feels. Refer to Dr. Governor Blackface in Virginia for more on this. In an instance like that, both the woman and the physician should be sent to prison. That's right, Governor Blackface, I am lookin at you.
Riiiight...Conservatives never want to push their conservative christian agenda on the rest of the country and tell people how they should live, who they should marry, what they should do in school etc...
Unless the woman is raped, then you are ok turning your back on your beliefs and ignore the rights of this 3rd person all of a sudden? Easy to flip flop that way.
"I would compromise your freedom to protect the majority of women, absolutely..." This type of nonsense is what you'd expect to hear from a Democrat, always justifying their stupid policies that compromise the freedom of real individuals in order to benefit a fictitious concept of "majority, society, group and so on..."
