You are generalizing based on your own prejudices. There is nothing to debate that would be fruitful - a genuine sharing of ideas so that two people can have a wider understanding of the world. You do it repeatedly on this forum. If you do it in real life, I feel sorry for you. Back to the topic, after your rant about dumb Americans - I also would love to be a fly on the wall. I bet it will be very interesting. Warren Buffet is the greatest value investor of all time but he missed some of the greatest tech stories (many of which will be studied in the history books 500 years from now). He has admitted to this.
Nobody inferred Americans being dumb - although the level of naivete and broader under-education is staggering - on average. Just because you don't like an opinion does not mean the messenger is off script or wrong. That a majority of Americans, whether they be conservative Christians, blue color workers, atheist comedians or anyone in between, by large majority worship and praise the value of money more so than any other culture on earth is a fact not my opinion. That may produce more billionaires than anywhere else but in no way correlates with happier people. My observation of the video ad was that it very much represents the mindset of what is most of the time portrayed as American culture. Being abrasive and not being respectful to anyone else when the elephant enters the room - quick routes to riches as a virtue - de-emphasizing morals and ethics when you can be dumb and under educated but still make it financially. Those are modes of life that are celebrated in America today more so than any other place on earth. You have the right to disagree but just as I respect your opinion you should perhaps start to respect that others have a right to their opinion as well. You can of course disagree if you like. Being liberal does not give you a right to dictate how others must feel and talk and how they should express themselves. If you don't like my style of communication then don't fucking talk or reply to my posts. It's really that simple. Re the Buffet meetup, I don't think Buffet will change his stance on crypto currencies. If he had hesitations about certain technologies then he will stay away from cryptos. Any opposing expectation is futile imho. It would be sad if this great opportunity to learn from the master was squandered.
What does me being a liberal have anything to do with my suggestion? You say I am dictating how you should think but you feel perfectly okay lambasting billionaires for building rocket ships instead of water purification technologies. Most of your posts are about how someone else should think or behave. Your whole rant on Americans on this thread is about how they should behave. Re: the topic of the thread, no one might be convinced to change their mind fully but they might learn to appreciate the other persons viewpoint. It’s a more interesting conversation than a sycophanty value investor and warren (which is normally the outcome of the lunch auction).
Well then start your own thread and dictate the rules that participants must abide by. Just because you classify something as a rant because you don't like the messenger does not mean it is one. I respectfully disagree and believe my observations are grounded in more diverse experiences than you have to show for. You can disagree. I don't care. I am not interested in engaging with you because you disagree by default with everything I say because you love character assassination. I am interested in engaging with those who are excited to debate issues and topics and not the messengers. My last comment on this topic. Back to Buffet. Is the date set yet?
