Justice Roberts: I Am A Coward

Discussion in 'Politics' started by AAAintheBeltway, Jun 28, 2012.

  1. It was a 5-4 decision, not a 9-0 vote, not to mention the fact that the Roberts rationale that it is a tax is absurd on its face and has been openly ridiculed by many constitutional scholars.

  2. So, Roberts is not qualified to be on the court?

  3. Roberts must be removed as he explicitly stated that his job as a supreme court justice is not to interpret the law and uphold the constitution but to protect government policies even if they fall foul.

What does this make him? UNFIT.

This man is turning SCOTUS into a kangaroo court.

  4. So, once again, who do we blame?

    THE WORST PRESIDENT EVER!!!!!

Or would you care to modify your statement?

  5. It seems like a fair question. He has life tenure of course. He can be removed for misconduct or incapacity. We simply have no way of knowing the effects of his treatment.

Probably, he is fine, and his odd decision was just the result of a failure of nerve or some misguided desire to appear non-political. I think it is fair to say however that he has lost the confidence of conservatives, George Will notwithstanding. This is not the first headscratching decision of his tenure as Chief Justice, and it raises questions as to whether he is a bit too influenced by the suffocatingly liberal bias of the legal profession. Some men are not afraid to stand up for their principles, even if it means vicious attacks, men like Justices Scalia, Thomas and Alito and Ken Starr. Others find the Washington attack machine too intimidating, weaklings like David Souter. I am just afraid Roberts is more Souter than Scalia.

  6. No point looking at the past, what's done is done. Its how we pick ourselves up and move forward that matters.

This is not the Supreme Court of North Korea, it is not Volksgerichtshof. His job is not to uphold government policies, I dont care what law it is. That makes him a crony and a tool of the regime. Roberts has shirked his responsibilities and must be removed.

  7. I hear this often from your side.

My question, and this is legit....is there any sphere of ANY thing where you folks do not claim "suffocatingly liberal bias"???

So far, I have not found a SINGLE sphere of anything where it is not "the liberals". Some of you who make fun of Coast to Coast might want to think again if you actually listened to yourselves.

  8. I know it was 5/4 and I can see why. Both sides have a good argument. IMO his rational wasn't absurd.

  9. But, but.....he is a conservative, no?

  10. I have heard and read that he seems to be concerned about rulings that seem too partisan. He shouldn't give a flyin' fuck what the rulings "appear" to be, or what the talking heads will say. What the rulings of the court do to the political landscape should be of no concern to the court. Obviously the SCOTUS has been corrupted by their own political bias. Worse than that, they want to be liked.
