Same here, I favor decriminalization for financial reasons and the fact I find myself being more and more libertarian. I think Republicans left me as they started favoring big govt and spending on things like Medicare Part D rather than letting americans by the same prescription drugs in mexico.

  2. Of course they should legalize drugs, lower the prison rate, save zillion $$ on the drug war. But then the big pharm companies wouldn't be happy.

Look everyone, I hate partisan politics, but admit I'm a social liberal. I don't want gov't in my bedroom, or telling me about God. I don't want gov't telling women what to do about sex or lack thereof. We should come together on the things we agree about instead of just fighting because we have to based on Obama or Romney or whatever.

  3. But you don't have a problem with government telling us what kind of light bulb to use, how to flush our toilets, what to eat or what kind of health insurance we can buy.

You don't want government telling you about God but you are all for government indoctrinating our kids in school that gay sex is normal and healthy and that anyone who disputes AGW is the equivalent of a war criminal.

In other words, you would like us to surrender on the things we believe in but compromise on the stuff you want.

  4. No he wants us and our government to be smart.

This of course conflicts with conservative, ignorant, dogmatic thought.

  5. It baffles me how the health of our democracy is imperiled by having more political speech rather than less.

Why is it a good thing for a foreign ideologue with an axe to grind like Soros to be able to dominate the debate with numerous front groups, but a bad thing for an American company employing tens of thousands of Americans to have a say?

Why is it that a few select companies, ie the big media, should have the right to monopolize the debate, rather than let other companies say their piece? Why are liberals so afraid of opposing ideas? Is it because after decades of controlling the terms of the debate and deciding what is news, they can't handle a little competition?

Our democracy is far more threatened by the judiciary, anarchist mobs like Occupy and Sharpton's thugs and a president who seems to imagine he has dicatotrial power.

  6. Oh, I get it. Liberal=good, conservative=bad. Did you learn that through a Critical Thinking Class.

ps. Sorry, unlike RCG, you don't survive the cut.

  7. Our society over the last thirty years has become top-heavy with wealth and power. We don't want our government to become even more of a plutocracy than it already is. It should be one person one vote not one dollar one vote. Corporations are NOT people.

  8. By definition liberal means accepting of new ideas and conservative of being dogmatic. Tell me, which is smarter? A prime example is the understanding and acceptance of the science on GW and gays. Conservatives prefer to stay ignorant and dogmatic in those areas. It's pretty cut and dried. But by all means if you want to stay stupid it's your right. Americans are free to be stupid, and to a large extent are.

that was the old liberals... which we libertarians are. We welcome your right to be wrong, just dont spend our money or mess with our freedoms.

you new liberals are far closer to big govt 1984 marxists.
I say that without a hint of a joke. You really should examine your values.
If you are for bigger govt and not bigger liberty and constitutional rights... you are not a liberal.
