People say lot's of things at a job interview just to get the job. It's actual performance on the job that counts.

 

Seems to me no different than any recent POTUS. Get elected from the left or right....govern from the center.

 

Please- setting a precedent to tax any American based on non activity is not governing from the center.

Indeed, if I recall correctly, Bush picked Roberts because he was young, and he wanted someone as conservative as ANTONIN SCALIA.
