I dont believe in poligamy, but I dont see how it's any worse than gay marriage

i dont see how people can flip out over this, then say 2 guys porking each other should be called a marriage

  4. For me the crime is how the women and children have no rights, are kept uneducated, and have no idea that by law they don't have to be in a polygamist marriage. They are totally controlled and brainwashed. Now if a women isn't raised in an envirement tha brainswashes her to feel she will burn in hell if she does not submit to polygamy, but understands other ways of living her life, but then chooses to be one of many wives...then that is different. Its not so much the polygamy to me, its how these men force this way of life on the women and very young girls to satisfy their own sexual desires without regard for another persons right to choose.

The above is caused by their religious beliefs ... not the polygamy (as you note).

I was raised in texas in a sister-cult to the Branch Davidians. If you take out the polygamy in the FLDS you pretty much had us (offshoot of the SDA church).

Both of my sisters were sexually abused from a young age. Both of my sisters had arranged, controlling, abusive marriages. I could just watch the dreams dying in every young girls eyes as I grew up. Total control was demanded. The cult even printed their own money with which you were paid a food stipend (real money = options).

I was a problem ... I asked questions and didn't take BS for answers. I ran 10 states away from home at 15, lied about my age and went to work in construction and never looked back.

Took years and years to be truly integrated -- had been sequestered for my entire life (no tv, radio, newspaper, no outside friends).

I feel for those women and kids more than anyone knows.

  7. Thanks for talking about your experiences, JB. It is totally unexpected to see the right on here suddenly jumping to the defense of these cultists, citing their 'rights'. Isn't it the Conservatives who are constantly telling us how the PC police are wrong for claiming that everyone and their dog is a special interest group and that their 'rights' must be protected? They defend Guantanamo Bay, pointing out that if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's most likely a duck.

Here we have a situation in which everyone knows full well what's going on in these 'communities'. Yet certain members are clamoring about their 'civil rights'. Sure, the kids are suffering in the short term due to the separation from their parents, but they will be reunited soon enough. The things that can happen to the girls as they hit their teens is much worse. Let's prevent that, shall we?

A very strange turnabout. One might say it's somewhat hypocritical. I have a strong feeling that most of those who are defending these criminals (the child-raping 'leaders' of these cults) are hard right Christians for whom the alleged Christianity of these cults is what demands a defense. This is why they're defending these cultists but are happy to censure Muslims who abuse women.

  8. except SDA has no connection to mormonism whatsoever. no angel moroni.. no american indians being the true israelites?

so do you blame your religion or the individuals that committed the crimes?

  9. and then you have brainwashed elitist (or at least they think they are) that sat on their hands while a couple of million middle easterners were savagely slaughtered.

then they know nothing of what they speak of concerning the west texas raid but that doesn't stop them from accusing every male over 18 at the YFZ ranch of rape. how fkn stupid and arrogant.

if we allow hoax calls to circumvent due process i am horrified to think where it ends. but the hell with the 4th amendment, the Constitution/Bill of Rights is just a GD piece of paper to them. let's usher in the UN and ask them permission to wipe our asses.
