True, but it is a making it extremely hard to get one when it is a serious ban that has been in place for a long time.

Serious criminals do not have any intentions of bringing down the planes, psychos have no ways of obtaining rockets. Terrorists who might try to obtain them on black market, will most probably be sold out to government for some favors. The ban does work.

I agree that certain things just can not be banned. Drugs for example, too many people willing to pay to have whatever enjoying they get out of them.

Missiles are banned, and so far so good.

Rifles and high capacity clips, who knows? It will take a generation after the ban to clearly see if it works or not, since there is no way there would be a confiscation after the ban.

Alcohol was banned here once by constitutional amendment no less. It stopped NO ONE from drinking that didn't want to. Most recreational drugs have been banned for decades.
I don't see drug users doing without, do you?

    Sure they do
Maybe, but pure speculation on your part.
It's "worked" so far yes. But if someone was determined to get a shoulder fired rocket they could. With our porous borders they could easily bring it into the country. Given the gross incompetence of Homeland security/ TSA they could also easily get close enough to a major airport. Remember the jet ski guy at JFK recently? Frankly I'm surprised it hasn't happened already.

  5. You're debating a delusional fanatic who is immune to facts and logic and doesn't even know what he doesn't know.

  6. That's because you're an ignorant blowhard who's never served and you don't even realize it's a basic soldiers' skill in the Army.

Yeah, still laughing at a possibility of shooting something like F-16 or F/A-18 at 20,000-30,000 altitude with a rifle. And instead of saying, oops, I just typed before giving it much thought, he keeps defending it with some macho BS.

LOL Arguing with the Duke is an exercise in futility. Like futurecurrent his is all knowledgeable (LOL) and incapable of seeing the flaws in his arguments. But, that doesn't stop him from defending his scripture on a constant and never ending basis. One can only hope that he sees the light when reality slaps him upside his face but once again.

I wasn't referring to modern fighters either. My now dead ex father in law witnessed a Japanese zero being shot down with an M1 Garand during WWII.

Come on, you like to talk about facts, and the fact is no plane was ever brought down on us soil via a missile after end of WW2. I can bet we have some people on our soil who would love to do it, yet it is extremely hard if not impossible to obtain a rocket. Imagine if shoulder rockets were legal?

It makes sense to ban certain things where others it does not.
