1) We will surely find out within next few months 2) Not sure what you mean 3) these mass shootings happened all over the country. By your logic it is not safe anywhere.
We have a constitutional right to own effective self-defense firearms. The burden is not on us to demonstrate why we need a particular weapon or why it shouldn't be banned. The burden is on those, like you, who would infringe our constitutional rights. The history and context of the Second Amendment demonstrate that the drafters envisioned citizens having weapons that could be used militarily. That was the whole point of it, to prevent governments from disarming citizens. The fact that something like an AR15 is a civilian version of a military rifle should give it enhanced constitutional protection, not less. Please don't give me a load of crap about "times have changed" etc. There were no radio and Tv stations and computerized printing presses back then either, yet we still apply freedom of the press to modern inventions. Same with guns. If times have changed that much, you are free to amend the constitution. There is no earthly reason for the federal government to get involved in this. It is clearly a matter for the states to decide. If people in NYC want to make themselves vulnerable to crime, that is their concern, within limits. That's not good enough for fanatical gun banners however. Like all liberals, they want to force their views down everybody's throat, all the time preening about how tolerant they are.
You throw away words like pussy or stick it, where you clearly showed yourself as just words and no weight behind them. Do not use this language, since you just look more pathetic. Where did I say you agreed? You just refused to put money where your mouth is. As a result, your favorite charity, if you ever donated to one, lost a chance to benefit from your strong convictions. Oh well. Have you ever heard a saying, "a straw that broke a carmel's back"? CT tragedy is that event. Not every rifle will be banned obviously, but many will. Hopefully there will also be some vetting process on national level along with some gun shows controls. No sane politician will be against reasonable measures. This, plus calling in favors and arm twisting will get the job done. If the administration will push too far, then the measure will fail.
I am a strong supporter of 2nd Amendement. Times have changed indeed, and ar15 will not help against government, I hope you do realize this. The real need for firearms is to protect against criminals, and hand guns are more then enough to do it. Hunting rifles, do not need 30 bullets in a magazine. We live in a world where too many lunatics can too easily access assult weapons. While we can not completely eliminate their evils, we can limit their access to means of committing them. Most of these tragedies were committed by law abiding citizens who were able to aquire a modified version of military assult weapons. Past and would be victims might have a chance against a hand gun, basically no chance against anything like ar15.
"a straw that broke a carmel's back" - That's hilarious! But, I see you just ran away for a little while to try to post the last piece of your tripe. How did you turn a conversation about passage of gun control into some red herring chicken run about my not wanting to take a bet and then you continue that tact post after post? You are a just a coward who is running away from a ridiculous argument you have proffered. Don't blame me for your stupidity concerning your supposed gun control bill that will never pass. You can say, 'who would vote against it', but the reality is enough to defeat it easily. But now you are backing away from banning assault weapons and just talking about broader checks at gun shows. And what if I want to sell my gun to joe blow down the street? See where your twisted rules lead? Regardless, an assault weapon ban will not pass this Congress or the next.
Thanks for pointing my typo. Just the beginning: http://news.yahoo.com/congressional-backing-grows-gun-control-debate-220341844--politics.html It will not just be an assault ban, the bill will have other provisions. I hope it will close gun shows loop hole. As far as you selling it to Joe, should be fine as long as Joe can pass a background check. See where reasonable rules lead?
The personal background check provision will be impossible to enforce between individuals. And, if an assault weapons ban is part of any reform. Toss it out the window. It won't pass, at least for the next two years.
Yes, it is going to be hard to enforce it, but when people will face charges for selling their guns to someone who is not supposed to have it, it will deter the most. Anyway, this debate will lead to nowhere. Let's wait and see what happens next.
