It would not have stopped it, but if his mom had only one pistol some of those kids could have been "just" injured and a lot less could have been shot. Also, some of the adults might have had a chance to intervene during reloading. Imagine it, those little kids had multiple bullets in their bodies. There is no reason these semi automatic rifles are needed in hands of regular citizens.
The mere fact that I might want one is suffice enough, so go wet the bed elsewhere or cry yourself to sleep about it.
Fucking A. I am sick of my rights being constrained by the possible actions of the lowest common denominator. We must make it clear to our representatives that no compromise is acceptable in this area.
The mere fact you want something does not mean it is a right thing for a society to allow it. Any urge to own and shoot bazooka? Based on all talk out of DC, it looks like the odds of these rifles being banned are very high, so my suggestion to you is to go and buy it now, that is if you do not own one already. Otherwise, few months down the road you will end up crying yourself to sleep for wanting one.
If 20 slain innocent children mean nothing to you, not sure many things will. Even if "only" 1 life could have been saved last Friday due to ban of these rifles, it is worth the price of some adults not being able to satisfy their wishes. I truly hope that neither you nor anyone you know would ever deal with horrors of what those families are going through now.
Lots of children die from accidental death, way more than the 20 or so this year in school shootings. Why not ban automobiles and bicycles too?
I do not understand why this example keeps on coming over and over, but your question has the answer: "accidental". People die in airplanes too. Their main purpose is to transport, where guns main purpose is to kill.
