Unlike bowing, which is a gesture of respect that always involves rank, saluting is a gesture of respect that could involve rank, but which could be a recognition of equality, especially when reciprocated. Equality is what America is about, rather than the pernicious supremacy of states of old, such as colonial Brittain, and Islam.
Nobody is talking about bowing, Dotard curtseyed like a little girl in front of ISIS funding Saudis who behead liberals for not respecting fiction called religion. You just think your religious fiction is better than theirs because you were taught that, if you were born there, you would be lining up to blow yourself up to show them liberals unlike blowing your trading account that bone the spreadprofessor does. I opened with the contrast between mountains and molehills. I think Trump's gesture AFTER receiving the almost meaningless medal from the sickly King of an even sicker country was a mistake. It was asymetrical, and not a response to any prior, similar gesture. For that, the Saudi Kink should be rightly condemned for either his own naivity, or for setting up an opportunity to exploit propaganda. That was a Trump sized mistake, as the subsequent selling of arms and assistance to Arabia is/was a mistake. The Korean salute is/was not a comparable mistake, if it was one at all. It could be these nations are trying to embarrass Trump, given any opporutinty, just as Macron (weird handshake), and Trudeau (comments for public consumption) did recently. Meanwhile...there is policy, policing and dual standards (inequality, supremacy).
I never said they were comparable, hence your entire 'criticism' is a strawman. The salute was reactionary unlike the curtsy that was self-starting, but given how Trump attacks others for their reactionary movements (see the NFL issue), he has opened himself to be criticized for it.
So you plan to rely on an ad hominum approach, rather than countering the points I've made? Wanting things both ways is what dual standards are about. That's not what this gesture was about.
First, it's ad hominEm And for a guy who deflects and attacks others for being 'foreign trolls', you are going to complain about ad hominEm? With that kind of self awareness, is it any surprise that you support Dotard.
