just position trading

  1. Trading is a lot about turning dollars over to make profits to keep that account balance high enough to trade again after withdrawals. Many traders are driven towards day trading to get that turn over because they are under funded.

I have traded 20+ years (+20 prior as an investor) with discretionary and automated swing trading. I’m now retired and do it full time. Plus I use TA with my intermediate term trades in my 401K brokerage account. My automation can also be set to position trade in trending markets.

I have been asked many times how much capital is enough to trade swings and make a living at it. I was never able to give a qualified “correct” answer and I would not try to guess. The main factor I stated above. If you can turn dollars at a quick enough pace with positions in a well funded account than you can make a living at it.

P.S. The boring positions in 2006 and 2007 led to some great summers at the lake.
