Just as a follow up, the closing did happen earlier this month on July 2nd, so I am very grateful that whole process is over. Man, the amount of stress involved with selling a big house and getting rid of 60% of everything inside it to accommodate downsizing is insane.
I moved about 4 miles away in Windermere on the other side of Lake Butler. The lot is about two acres on the lake, and the house is about 3,000 sq. ft. The view from the back is what we really enjoy the most.
Nice! I've always lived in neighborhoods with lake access but never actually had a lot on the lake until now so this is a brand new experience for me.
There are some remnants of a dock that used to be there. It probably got wiped out in one of the hurricanes and the owners at the time never put it back up. It's on my to-do list.
We can get to the shore easily enough but it's rocky and not really suitable for swimming, but a marina and park/campground and boat launch are very close. Our house is about 100 ft above the lake level, so no flooding thankfully. It's great to have lake front, so nobody can ever build and block your view and ruin your aesthetic.
