Just how reliable is backtesting?

    Absurd advice. Jump in without any clue of what to do and HOPE for the best. Incredible that someone could suggest something so ridiculous.

    Only thing you need other than capital to start trading is Prudent Risk Management. Jumping in and trading whilst utilizing PRM is miles ahead of any amount of backtesting with regard to learning to trade successfully.
