Just another day in Chicago

I have to confess that I carried a gun nearly every minute I was in the city. I worked on Dearborn Avenue and walked to and from the Ogilvie Transportation Center sometimes late a night to catch the Metra out to my home in Elmhurst. Not necessarily a dangerous walk but I grew up in a large city and know what can happen and how fast it can happen.

Did I worry about local gun laws? Not for a minute to be honest.

I'm not a person looking for trouble so I don't have problems. Walking through Chicago I was Mr. WrongGuy, simple as that. Silly laws designed to make people vulnerable are something I generally ignore. I was well dressed and fish-belly white so pretty much the last guy on the street that the CPD would think was strapped.

When Liberalism is a threat to my life I first try to ignore it, if that is ineffective I try to avoid it and in the final analysis if it continues to threaten my life I will fight it.

Teen grandson of U.S. Rep. Danny Davis shot dead in Englewood home invasion

The 15-year-old grandson of U.S. Rep. Danny Davis was fatally shot in a home invasion Friday evening on the South Side, according to Davis and police.

“It was unbelievable, unbelievable,’’ said Davis, who was reached by phone on his way to the police station to be briefed on the incident.

His grandson, Jovan Wilson, was at his home in Englewood with an uncle, his 16-year-old sister, 14-year-old brother and 8-year-old brother when two teenage assailants broke into the home and began arguing with Jovan, police and Davis said. The teen's mother had left the home to pick up food.

At some point during the argument, one of the assailants, a 15-year-old boy, pulled out a gun and shot Jovan in the head.

He was dead on the scene in the 5600 block of South Princeton Avenue, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

A 17-year-old girl was the other assailant who was with the 15-year-old boy, Davis said.

The offenders were still at-large as of Saturday, said Anthony Guglielmi, spokesman for the Chicago Police Department. He said the incident was not random, and there was a history between the offenders and the teen.

Jovan, a sophomore at Perspectives Charter High School, loved sports and rap music, Davis said.

“He was a typical 15-year-old,’’ the congressman said. “He liked basketball. If you listened to him he was a basketball star, but he liked basketball and music. All those kinds of things. He was an avid sports fan, he knew all about, you know, the stats of different players.”

  6. Obama needs to concentrate on cleaning up this crap when he gets kicked out of the White House. He won't though because he doesn't care. Never has. But he does care about playing golf.

  7. This murder was a fight over gym shoes. Davis said: He added, "We need to improve our schools. We need to make sure that there are enough schools and after-school recreational, job activity to keep young people busy and engaged and all of those things ... and his being shot is just simply a manifestation of the tremendous urban crisis that we are facing in Chicago."

Danny, I got news for you. Anyone willing to kill someone over a pair of fucking gym shoes isn't going to be helped by school rec programs. In other news, BLM has yet to stage a protest or even show up. Now if the thug who did the killing happens to get his dumb ass shot by a cop, they'll be all over that.

  8. You are absolutely right.
These people, their family, neighbours need to take the bull by the horns and go straight to stuff that really work.
Bouddhism offers secular 10 days retreat like this one.
I'd wonder how Chicago crime rate would plummet if they were to get all these people on these retreats.

But then, those who profiteer from crime, would not like to see miracles happen.

  10. If a good Samaritan could get all these protesters, well-meaning people, whinners people , complainers people, criminals people and al people to these 10 days retreat : I am sure that suddenly ALL the issues they are protesting about would be sorted, as they will really sort out the real issues.
So yep, whoever get their bums on these cushions at dhamma (dot) org for 10 days has my deepest gratitude. :D :D :D

May be there should be demonstrations called dhamma (dot) org matters.
