Policing doesn't eradicate murder or rape, either, yet we hire cops to maintain violent crime at an acceptable level? Same thing. I think there's room for a massive uptick in policing, and transfer payments by the Feds. That said, even a rejiggering of the Illinois budget to shaft the 8 figure pensions of school teachers and hire more cops, net-net, spending is the same. As far as the endemic problems in the black community, it's sorta beyond hope in the short-term. Policing and it's deterrent effect is the last line of defense for the average citizen, right now, today. Sure, down the road, the national conversation needs to shift towards race. Whites have their problems. Blacks have their problems. Both sides need to own the fuck up to it, instead of playing nice, and pretending it doesn't exist. But even then, there's such a stigma attached to any dialogue amongst racial lines in this country, it's ridiculous. As a white guy, I wouldn't live anywhere near large black populations. I've done that before, and it's a huge, huge problem. Young black males have a gigantic chip on their shoulder against white men. Most travel in packs, they look to intimidate, start shit and maybe turn violent. There's no point. As a law-abiding citizen going it alone, you can't win. The news out of Chicago is just completely fucked. Sorry man.

  2. Let's have some positive news experience. I had my annual physical this morning at the University of Chicago Hospital. I took the scenic route and drove up Cottage Grove from 95th to 59th. No incidents, no shootings, no nothing.
Upon arrival I was greeted by a black female receptionist who was very friendly and professional. I sat in the waiting area with about 15 other people, male and female. All were black except for one Hispanic guy. Two of the black men said hello and I responded in kind. We all waited our turn to be called in.
My preliminary exam was given by another black female who was also very friendly and professional. My doctor, a white female did her thing. I had some blood work done. Again, black female receptionist and a black woman drew the blood. Both extremely friendly and professional.
The Hispanic valets who parked/retrieved my car were nice guys and I tipped them 5 bucks. All in all a very pleasant experience in Chicago.

I was just kidding with him. Jeez Ricter. For those of you not familiar with Chicago, it's a pretty black city. LOL. As in walking into a doctor's office on the south side and seeing black people is not terribly shocking. Walking into a doctors office and finding white people, a little more so. LOL. It's just the demographics here Ricter. Of course I think you already knew that. I guess you are just trying to keep the dialogue going. Slow day huh? :)
