Jumpstart the economy? What a bunch of DILLHOLES!

  1. Both parties are bad, but the democrats seem to instinctively go for the worst possible ideas. Like now, they want to give a rebate of several hundred dollars to everyone. What does that do, other than boost Walmart's slaes of imported chinese goods for a couple of weeks?

We have immediate problems in terms of the whole housing/mortgage/structured finance issue. We have longer term problems in terms of trade imbalances, offshoring of jobs, government fiscal imbalances, etc. Throwing money at consumers or rewarding irresponsible borrowing and consumption does nothing to address either problem.

The country would be well-served by an intelligent debate on these issues by the presidential candidates, but unfortunatley all we will get is a contest to see who is the most "compassionate."

  5. Try to get it through your heads, the people running this country are far from stupid. They are not making mistakes, it's just that their goals & plans are nowhere near what yours are.

Predictable reactions like yours only help prove this point.

  6. To be fair, he didn't say they ran it into the ground because of stupidity. I agree with you, these things happen for reasons far greater and beyond the imagination of us mere mortals. It's about REAL power.

  9. Military spending is over half of our tax dollars.
How about shut down the 15 military bases we have on foreign soil, wrap up these wars and dont start new ones, and get rid of the income tax at the same time which would give us a surplus to get out of debt with and turbo boost the economy. Naaaaaaaaaah, thats too radical for the stupid american public. Only the candidates who cant get elected are talking about real spending cuts.
