  1. Hi all,
I often read about technical or market crash and fear to loss because you not able to close an open position.
Is the problem related to InteractiveBrokers only???
If yes, is it due to their Customer Care service? Or their system crashes?
    Are so frequently these crashes?

We can stop to live any moment! We are human and all of us one day has to die.

I dont understaend the problem of technical crash. I think is a ruly of the game.
BUT NO OFTEN, MAX 3 TIMES IN A YEAR!
OTHERWISE SOMETHING NOT GOES WELL AS I NEEED.

Well, how many technical crashes occours per year with InteractiveBrokers?

In some cases you are right but htier are some traders who pay those rates for service. If a broker is going to allow this he is only hurting himself, it would be wrong to take a valued customer for a ride. You can skin a cat once, but you can sheer it as many times as you would like. Let's face it at a low rate the trader will most likely last longer and if in the event they do blow out the trader will know that it was due to his or hers trading not the high commissions.

  3. By any chance does jgan = Jeff Ganis (COO) of elocal? Perhaps it is a coincidence that every one of your posts is about how great elocal is and your acronym just happens to be a freak coincidence. My intuition says that you are a founder of the company and probably would be entitled to replace the "theys" above with "we or I".

    realtrader,
what is the criteria a trader needs to meet regarding opening an account with you. net worth, trading history, volume? some of these ibs charge 10 a rt, but they negotiate the commissions accordingly. i dont think any compare to interactive brokers as far as commissions go, but the prices for the platforms and commissions seem to be changing so quickly, this could be different tomorrow. there is a lot of competition out there, and i think we (traders) should be the ones who benefit the most from this. later

  6. Any electronic broker is susceptible to going down out of the blue. Lots of things can take them down, hardware, software, internet problems, your computer hardware problem, your ISP problem, Globex problem. Whenever any of these happen the electronic broker tends to get the blame. InteractiveBrokers has just been very visible of late with their problems. I'm confident they have or will resolve the problem. This year they have been flakier than any time I can recall. The past week was solid so maybe they have turned the corner.

  7. Yes, but "jamming up servers" (quote) with too many user accounts
can´t be considered a technical failure. I would call it a misconfiguration.

  8. Went to their office last week, looks like they know what they are doing, new company but the principals have been around for a while.

  9. Unfortunately 2 of their platforms (TT, GL) will have a much higher price tag than PATS J-Trader.
TT X_Trader I have seen offered by another Refco I.B. starting at 700$/month usage fee.

Yes these are two platforms that can be costly. These are platforms are primarily used by people concerned about slippage that are trading more than the normal trader. In the event that you would need a platform of this caliber you would not be worried about the price and usually whoever you have your clearing arrangement through would pick up the tab.
