Good work. He is apparently retired from Ophthalmology, so I don't think I'll be calling the office. So how should we interpret this new information in light of his sloppy Wiki blurb which states "Finally, he decided to leave ophthalmology and continue working in business"? And what of those "dozens" of Journal papers? Perhaps I can't find them because he published under a different name, or maybe they don't exist. He, whomever he is, is apparently a very busy guy! Trading stocks on one hand. Writing books on the other, while using his 3rd hand to trade for himself and his fourth hand to examine eyes, all done more or less simultaneously. It seems the retired ophthalmologist who lives on poppy field Dr in Roseville used to be Albert Silvestre Leveille and is now Al Brooks and has or had an office in Rocklin or something like that. And simultaneously was in an unstated "business," presumably trading. In light of the new information you've turned up, I am not concluding that Brooks' medical/trading career is fictitious. But because of the unusual nature of his stated, dual career, the claim of dozens of papers I have not been able to find (could be my fault, but I have given it a good try), the sloppiness with which his bio is described in Wiki and the bizarre, apparently mid-career name change, which is a bad thing if your career success depends on recognition of your work via the primary literature, I can not help but be suspicious that there is much more to "Al Brooks" than simply being an incompetent writer. I suspect that his resume may be more than a wee bit padded. We know one thing. If his "business" was trading, it would have been impossible to accomplish what he claims to have done in ophthalmology and also trade full time. One does have to sleep. My guess, if I am to give him the benefit of a doubt , is that he was a legitimate full-time ophthalmologist and his "business" was that of a hobbyist trader all those many years while practicing medicine.
Thanks very much for your helpful posts, @SimpleMeLike . I understand your perspective much more clearly, now.
Good Morning Probability, Hope all is well for you today. You're very welcome. I understand your point of view as well. I'm glad we came to a mutual respectful understanding. Have a great day
Well, he has/had Board certs and unless this is ID theft... this is the guy. He can't trade but I suppose I'd see him for cataracts. Well, he's like 85 now.. https://doctor.webmd.com/doctor/al-brooks-4ff2e129-432c-4759-841f-5cf8e74ef978-overview FWIW I know plenty of MD's that can't trade... and traders who can't doctor.
Your link says the good doctor specializes in both Diagnostic Radiology and Ophthalmology? Very hard to believe as both require > 5 years of residency + fellowship training.
Proved my point. He's not made a dime since subprime and almost blew out on carry. He's been short for years.
