Dreamer. The ONLY thing that really matters... is reelection of incumbents... REGARDLESS OF COST TO THE NATION.
If that were actually the standard, most government programs would have to be defunded. Don't get me wrong, I wish it were the standard, but it clearly isn't. You have something called the Iron Triangle defending these programs, ie the congressional committees responsible for them, the government department running them and the supposed beneficiaries or at least those who profit off it. We can't even cut back something that government clearly has no business in, like public broadcasting. They don't even need the money and we can't cut it.
This time is different, however. Instead of funding for state parks or public broadcasting, we have a program that has the potential to seriously screw up the healthcare of millions of individuals in this country either through people losing their insurance or paying for sub-standard insurance that only gives one access to crappy physicians and medical facilities located 50 miles away and that don't kick in until a $6k yearly deductible has been satisfied while at the same time literally bankrupting this country. Something eventually has to give.
if obamacare continues to be as bad as it is... or gets worse... eventually the establishment will get voted out of power. then it would probably take the guys with all the cash a decade to corrupt whoever takes over the offices.... so if we can pass term limits and eliminate the income tax... we might be able to get our country back.
Sorry but those two ain't happening. Members of Congress and the Senate are not going to collectively and voluntarily vote to limit their own terms and I'm afraid income taxes are here to stay.
well then we have to get campaign bribes out of politics.... for unions too. perhaps this recent supct decision which went against the unions will cut their funding by 80%. who knows if the dems lose the senate... they may also lose half their financing by 2016.
