Recent approval data puts Biden right where Trump was at this time in his Presidency. Interestingly enough, he's beating Reagan at this point.
Its interesting because Bush 2 got the post 9/11 performance boost and reagan had the Iran Contra and lingering recession dump. I assume George Sr. had the Iraq war boost as well. None of the other guys had global events like that in their first 2 years. trump, obama and clinton all followed similar paths
The similarity to the positions of other Presidents at this time being noted and having merit, nevertheless, Biden is in a MUCH worse situation than most of the others at midterms - as in next week. Biden lost 12 seats in the house on the way in- mostly because lots of people did not want Trump but Biden nevertheless had no positive coattails for the house and senate races so they felt free to vote republican at the down-ballot elections. So he comes into the midterms with VERY THIN margins in both houses whereas the other presidents had to lose more to end out losing the house or senate. And yes, you will hear yaddy di, yaddy da, that every/most presidents lose seats at midterm but Biden has fewer to spare- and at least in the house- will lose even more than the others to boot especially if you count the 12 he lost on the way in. The dems last minute scams are to blame Pelosi's attack on the republicans and to blame gas prices and oil shortages on Putin and the oil companies. We will see if that is a winner. I am going with "Bullshit for a $100" Alex. They brought Obama in but that -truthfully- is kind of sad. He looks loud, disorganized, and disheveled to me, and a bit cloudy in the mind. Versus the time when he occasionally could fake the statesman look. I have not seen him for a while but he seems goofy to me. Anyway he is off doing for Biden what he did for Hillary and Terry McCauliffe by "helping" them. That's fine.
Amazing how little talent there is in the diplomatic circles of the Biden Administration. Biden pokes the Saudis in the eye and cannot get any oil. Then the Saudis move even closer to the Russians. Meanwhile, the Saudis are under direct and repeated threats from the Iranians and are coming to the U.S. whining about their problems and have their begging bowls out in the same way that Biden had his out. Skip all that bullshit. Put the pieces together. Get back on track. Yes, the Khashoggi thing is and was a human rights disaster. But the Biden Administration and previous dems have no problem dealing forever and a day with Iran which is a human rights disaster or with China which is a human rights disaster. Bring some skills to the table for chrisesake. Their first meeting in office with the Chinese was the one in Anchorage where they just publicly stuck their fingers in the eyes of the Chinese and publicly humiliated them. And from there they moved on to sticking their fingers in the eyes of the Saudis and publicly humiliating them. In both instances they did that to play to the domestic dems at home. Whatever. Start bringing some skills to the table. Ideal climate to get back on track if the administration is not filled with complete idiots - a big IF of course.
