Well I would not go by Closed Captiosn since it is not pure vocal recognition. I listened to it a few times to give it context and the question was in the tone of what kind of candidate he is going to be and if he he is going to govern as a progressive like Bernie Sanders et al and what he will say to the GOP factions not happy with Trump I could see his point that he is going to do what he always did and be himself and thus be Joe Biden.
Closed caption is usually done by a stenographer. It is likely the stenographer heard the words and thought "there's no way he is talking about beating himself" and changed the word. Regardless, we can argue over this one particular example if we feel like it. But it is hard to dispute the dozens of other "word salads" being posted where Joe goes off his rocker.
As they say in politics: "If you are splainin', you are losing." Maybe Joe said this or Joe said that. But every appearance he makes requires lots of processing. If he were out on the trail making many of unscripted comments at the end of a long day of raucous rallies then you cut someone some slack. But when you see Joe, even before corona, it is like a Sasquatch siting and his one appearance of the day or week requires hundreds of people to figure out what the hell he said. Joe is boring. That's his biggest problem. He could be thirty years younger and he would still be a dud. He has not lost his fastball. He never had one.
i think your post perfectly desrcibes why Joe is not boring and I wait daily to see what drawl falls from his mouth like back in the W Bush days
Well, yeh, Joe is more properly viewed as some type of home entertainment system. But he generates interest from his flubs, not his strengths or performance on the issues or verbal command of matters- cause he is boring as shiite on that. I am pretty sure that the Great Spirit was just having a little fun with me the other day. Y'all know how I regularly mimic/mock Joe for his repetitive routine about how " my father used to say, Joey, a job is more than just a paycheck." So, I am watching the tube the other day and a Joe Biden ad comes on and I have not seen many or any of them so I perk up a bit to see what of shtick he's got going. Then the ad starts in, and you guessed it or at least I did, "as my father used to say, Joey, a job is more than a paycheck." Frig, you would have been doing me a favor to shoot me right there. Boring idiot.
I think current administration is setting a really low bar for what they say haha

2017: Kayleigh McEnany says President Obama went to play golf after the beheading of Daniel Pearl and that when you're in a state of mourning, you should take time off from the golf course.

Obama was a state senator in 2002, the year Pearl was murdered.pic.twitter.com/pRpUzJBx2w
— Travis Akers (@travisakers) May 24, 2020
