  2. At this point in a head to head matchup between Trump and Biden I think it will come down to if Trump is a convicted felon. I think Biden would lose to either DeSantis or Haley in the General. Inflation has been horrible for the everyday person and even if it slows the damage won't be forgotten a year from now. Plus Biden just looks way too old. He doesn't look sharp at all, I don't even know if he can debate. Now, if Democrats were smart they would pick a candidate who's not from CA. I think Harris and Newsom are possibly the worst two alternatives they could go with. The media loves floating Newsom, because they think he's witty and good looking. To the average American he just looks like your typical slick and inauthentic politician. He will sell extremely poorly in sunbelt and the rustbelt. CA has by far the worst stats in the country for homelessness and property crime. This is on top of the highest gas prices, highest housing costs (next to HI), and the highest middle class income taxes (already at 8% above $52k). The biggest problem of all though is that anybody who's been to California recently knows what a shithole the cities have become. It's not safe to park your car in LA or SF and leave anything in it. Not to mention the open use of meth/crack/fentanyl. Better alternatives would be candidates like Gov. Beshear (KY), Sen. Chris Murphy (CT), and Gov. Whitmer (MI) who don't come across as inauthentic douches.

Too many idiots watch polls but very few present info about the "alternatives"...fewer about why the "alternatives" can/should succeed beyond a Biden/Trump repeat.

I too am in favorite of the "alternatives" Gov. Beshear (KY), Sen. Chris Murphy (CT), and Gov. Whitmer (MI)...although I lean more heavily toward Gov. Beshear as someone who can lead the Democratic fight against Trump along with an Independent Cheney to steal votes from Trump...

Helping to keep the Trump virus from reinfection of the Oval Office.

Beyond the fact that I grew up in a military family in Kentucky and served myself in the military at Fort Campbell, Kentucky...

No Democratic presidential candidate has won here since 1996. Donald Trump carried Kentucky by 26 points in 2020, his eighth-biggest margin in any state. Kentucky’s legislature is totally dominated by Republicans; Beshear and Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman, who ran as a joint ticket, are the only Democrats in statewide elected offices.

Yet, Kentucky is a state that has shown it can vote into office a southern Democrat president like Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

I'm just a little surprised by how many people (including those here at ET) dislike Biden for whatever reasons and had voted for him in 2020...

They do not or are unable to discuss their "alternative" to Biden.

Why did Governor Beshear win his re-election ?

Beshear’s re-election in a state President Joe Biden lost by 26 percentage points in 2020 was due in part to the unique brand he has built in Kentucky, separate from the national party. But the victory is still a welcome sign for Democrats ahead of next year’s presidential race, with recent governor’s elections in Kentucky having previewed presidential victories to come.

In his bid for a second term, Beshear leveraged the popularity he built over the last four years, touting the state’s economic progress and his response to natural disasters, including devastating floods.

I'm a big fan of clean energy without needing to be a fan of the Green Party. I've lived in states like Kentucky that have natural disasters all the time and a lot of it due to not having the resources to minimize / adapt to natural disasters.

This is one of the reasons why he has strong bipartison support (republicans/democrats/independents) for the Inflation Reduction Act that he promoted in his re-election campaign.

In fact, I encourage my relatives and military friends in Kentucky to vote for Governor Beshear in 2019 because he aggressively fought against Medicaid rollbacks under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and he fought hard for teachers.

I remember vividly my recent summer visit to Kentucky to see my youngest brother an EMT and some military friends, Beshear was still helping people to recover from recent Natural Disasters while at the same time promoting clean energy projects...

Experts caution that Beshear’s blueprint for winning might not apply to other Trump-state Democrats. Beshear was aided by his family name ― his father, Steve Beshear, was a popular governor who expanded Medicaid to hundreds of thousands of Kentuckians ― and his response to deadly tornadoes and flooding that ravaged the state in 2021 and 2022. Republicans also have a veto-proof majority in the state legislature, meaning that Republicans, not Beshear, set the legislative agenda.

Regardless, he's more fresh air than a Biden/Trump repeat and he would have my vote if he were to run against Biden to determine who the DNC wants to challenge Trump.

Although Cameron cleaned up on the southwestern Kentucky counties...they are rural counties that do not carry a lot of votes. Strangely, they are the counties that benefitted the most from Beshear's strong support for Natural Disaster policies and clean energy.

Yet, in the next 4 years, the state of Kentucky will see the fruits of its investments in clean energy projects. Beshear should win bigger if he seeks another Governor re-election especially after he signed three bills that helps build a better Kentucky by supporting postsecondary education, economic development, public safety in the commonwealth by supporting minority universities, economic development in the southwestern rural counties and limits on no-knock warrants...

    Senate Bills 270, 321, and 4

Summary: Beshear is the best alternative to win over Kentucky for President of the United States that no one in the past has been able to do since 1996 and win over a few other southern states in comparison to the other "alternatives".

Too many idiots ignore polls and think that a guy with a double digit negative approval rating has a chance to win re election.

Too many idiots don't understand politics and think that just because a Dem candidate can win a Governors race in red state they can also win a Presidential race in that same state or nationwide.Mass,Jersey and Maryland had GOP Governors, good luck to those Governors winning those states EC votes.Same with The LA Gov Edwards winning Louisiana EC votes or Beshear winning KYs EC votes.

    Beshear got 700k votes

    Trump got 1.3 million votes.

    Good luck with that.

I doubt Beshear or Murphy would get the progressive or black turnout needed to win.

Biden had to promise police reform, medicaid option for all, free college, student debt forgiveness, no more oil drilling etc to get progressives and blacks to turnout. We know thats not Beshear or Murphy and after Biden progressives and blacks aren't falling for a career long centrist who turn into a progressive when running for president ever again.

Usual talking points of Republicans that said the same thing about Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter...

We all know via hindsight how that turned out.

Yet, I get it. You're going to keep faking it until you make it because you have "no alternative" which is why you don't show polls for your alternative. :D

In my opinion, only a southern Democrat can win the Oval Office...someone to exile the Trump virus like Biden did in 2020.

P.S. It's beyond Governor...its about a Democratic governor that can still get his agenda (those three bills) through their Republican legislature...a Democratic governor that's getting it done...twice elected with the Republicans in control.
