One of the newspapers had a section on gays, who is, who came out. It was fascinating. Then, they had another for gays that couldn't come out because the times were different. There was a character actor in the fifties and sixties. Richard Deacon was his name. He was a dad on Leave it to Beaver. As a matter of fact, he was Lumpy's dad. And then, he was Mel Cooley on the Dick Van Dyke show. That one floored me. Hollywood's a pretty liberal place, but to get on a sitcom in the fifties and be gay. There's a story there. The other one that got me ws Leslie Gore. I had a crush on her in the sixties, but she wrote her own songs. "It's Judy's turn to cry cuz Johnny came home, "with me". Now, how do you write stuff like that if you're gay? I don't think I could sit down and pen something like, "Oh, when I hold Ben's dick............."" and then get up in front of people and sing about it. But that's just me.
