Volume decrease. Why?
I am probably not the right person to answer this but I think that the cash (& future ?) market is closed during the lunch. May be that can help: www.etungtai.com/etungtai/minseninfutc.html www.excalibur.com.hk/downloadfile/futures/hangseng.pdf Trading Hours (Hong Kong time) 9:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (first trading session) 2:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. (second trading session)
4-8 points is hardly huge in MHI or even the HSI for that matter. When the market isn't moving, you'll get 1-2 point spreads. Add a little volatility to the mix and don't be surprised to see things widen out. Couple of other things: 1. The HSI is the lead contract and you should be looking at that for fair prices. For example, you have have a 50 point wide spread in MHI but if your bid is equal to the HSI offer, you should get filled. 2. Expiration is approaching and around that time the future roll broke down from 7 at 8 with a few thousand on each side. It traded down to around -1 at the break. I'm not looking at a chart now but if I got the time right, all bids would have been swept from the book during this period. 3. If you're trading Jan, consider rolling to February. It should be the more active month tomorrow.
Thank you x-or and def for your comments. I will not be trading today (and yesterday) due to work stuff. Hope to be back tomorrow.

Looking to implement the following for tomorrow: target: 10 pts stop: hard 15 pts entry: enter at buy/sell -3pts. For example if long entry signal is generated @ bid9200 ask9202, place buy entry order at 9199.
Not bad, surprised you didn't do anything on the quick sell off to 9160. Keep it up and you'll be able to move the the big contract in no time. Be aware, chinese new year starts tomorrow but with the schools closed today it seems half the town went on holiday last night. (HK closeed Fri & Mon), thus very quiet and thin markets. - Kung Hei Fat Choy
Hi def, Actually didn't start looking at the charts until just after the sell off. My first entry at 9:12pm @ 9174 was a little late... Happy New Year to you too!
