Why don't you open the account now while you're still employed?

The job requirement is a) to help decide your credit worthiness. But that does not hold much water if you are self-employed, which is one of the choices on just about every brokerage application

    b) helps with the proof of identity if ever needed, as required by the enhanced enforcement of regulations to combat fraud and supposed terrorism related activities.

Best advice I think is to just say you are self employed. How can they prove otherwise.

I could do that but I am on the "layoff list" and it is likely that if they verify H.R. would inform them. Some of the guys had tried to refinance their homes and were denied due to the coming layoff.

I am personal friends with my manager though, I think I will ask him if he would verify for me if they call.

I guess It would be wise to open it this week & that way I wouldn't have to ask my firend to lie if they do call.
