Jinxu's Dow E-mini Journal 2010

  1. I really don't know how ET see's you and what does that really matter anyway? My own perception, based on your words, is that you are a novice trader struggling with all the things beginning traders do. The fact that you are working at limiting losses is a positive thing. I also continue to give you points for being "pig headed". You've ignored so much hard won advice dispensed here that I think most posters have concluded you just plain too early in the learning cycle to appreciate or use it. The markets always need "fresh meat" for the grinder and right now you are it.

Here is the story of the Mini Dow this summer. The ATR plot at the bottom of the chart is an estimate of daily price risk (and also potential reward). This has been your summer of challenge, and probably your first brush with leveraged markets.

You've repeated stated that you have a method which cannot be discussed. You've also hinted at some challenges you've had trading your approach. If you want to make money, you need to look at this chart and understand what the issues were this summer. Why your approach failed to bring you decent profits from this market? And more importantly what you will do differently going forward. There is no obligation to share your answers here, but you need to reach meaningful conclusions and fix what ever is broken.

    Bad day.

I blew my account up again with a major loss. I don't even feel like writing an analysis.
If you want to see how much I lost, see the attached p/l below. :(

It adds up to 27. I can't even tell if you're being sarcastic or not.

  3. You got a good sense of humor :D - And as far as I'm concerned that counts for something. Lets see - Against all rules of ET decorum, I've called you "pig headed" and "fresh meat for the grinder" and you're still laughing.

    +1

I don't take my self too seriously and I'm glad you don't either. For 23 years I worked a 12 hour a day job that was hot (100 - 110F all the time) and dangerous. The trade off was lots of money, a chance to really see the world, and 6 months off a year to do as I pleased. The best advice I ever got during my "indoctrination training" was that "You've got to be a laugh-er". It is so true. I'm laughing with you - NOW KEEP MAKING MONEY :D

    Okay day.

I'm just up $50 on one trade. It was during pre-market. I sleep a lot last night and couldn't become mentally alert by the open so I stayed out.

It's b/c my source of confidence comes from something that goes deeper than other people's opinion. In this business if you don't have that, you won't make it beyond the first step.

    Bad day. I blew up.

I lost $405 on three trades. Took high risk setups and didn't obey my sell rules and it hurts me today. Last trade had a chance to breakeven for the day and didn't take it. Instead letted all the profit evaporated and then more. Traded too much based on what I hoped the market would do. Gonna refund the account one last time and switching to only taking the really good setups until I can rebuild.

  8. Just some advice, you should put in a max daily loss, some days you just can't feel the market so its better just to stop and to be able to trade tomorrow then to try to force it.

Crazy Day. I almost blew up this new account.

I'm up $65 on ten trades. I made some bad trades and lost around $150 during pre-market hours. At that point I was $50 (or 10pts) away from being wiped out. There was one trade that was good but had a tight stop that got hit at the exact low. Probably by bots that were hunting, god I hate them.

With that disadvantage, I somehow managed to make it all back. Most of the entries were good and I could've made a lot more but had to lock in profits by scalping for 10-20 pt each. It's a miracle that I am given a second chance. Looks like the account will start at $700 even after commission.

I may post a chart later on.

Last night after the wipeout, I went to a club to get my mind off trading. I met a hot chick there and she said I was handsome and let me touch her boobs. That was nice.

    Bad day.

I'm up only $55 on four trades. I had multiple trades with profits from $100 to $200 each. But I wanted to aim for a big trend and let them dwindled down to $50 and b/e. I didn't take profits when I knew I should have. Could have been a really good day if I had. Mornings are still the worst for me. I can't seem to become fully alert until the afternoon no matter what I do. This is a disadvantage and dangerous as I become undisciplined and make mistakes in this condition.

Overall I did good today, but could have be much better. If I can somehow fix some of these problems, then I can really start to bring out my full trading potential.

No 27, you gives such harsh lessons. It seems you want me to implement the time factor strategy into the system, but i have my hesitation about using it because it doesn't always work. Are you trying to tell that using time factor can improve my trading? That I can increase my accuracy with it? I still don't know if it'll help but if that is your wish then I will obey.
