Read it years ago. Without going back to reread it, I will just say from memory that once again, he says how to trade, but we still do not know his percentage returns from his own trades. Is that clear enough.
Not exactly sure what you mean with this response to my post. If you mean that since he made certain predictions over and over, he must have made money on it, I don't think that always follows. We don't know when he entered or exited any calls that he made, including the bad calls. And further, to reiterate, Soros has publicly said that Rogers was the analyst, and he(Soros) was the trader of the fund where they made huge returns. If my memory serves, the returns on that fund were in large part why Rogers was included in Schwager's book.
If you guys want to get an insight in the Jim Rogers George Soros relationship check out the book Soros on Soros. Soros talks about Rogers for a few pages and why they hate each other now. Instead of saying Rogers was the analayst Soros was the trader it would be more acurate to say that Soros was the macro specialist and Rogers was the one who scoped out individual investment ideas.
Rogers used to say if you could change gold to lead you should because industrial commodities were going to outperform. I guess he's changed his thesis.
I don't think he has changed his perception. He is still liking a lot of commodities better than gold.
Its funny because oftentimes clueless MCs will introduce Rogers as having 'worked with George Soros' when they founded Quantum fund or something along that line and you can see Rogers wince ... he so wants to put distance between himself and that shadow.
============ May 2005 Futures magazine, has a long term chart [about 7 years]of his RICI [index] outpeforming S&P 500,Russel 2k, and Barclays CTA index . Not a prediction but Rogers is scheduled to be interviewed on June 19, Pat Robertsons 700 Club [DISH network channel 260 ,2-3;00; Chicago time .If I miss it, probably will catch it on CBN.com Looking forward to it, neither one of them likes the track record of H.Chavez the clown.
Well I hate to break to news to Jim but much of China's economy and other countries relies on the United States. It's no wonder Jim is moving to China I'm sure he'll make a good communist capitalist or what ever.. Wait a minute I think I'm confusing Rogers with that guy from Back to The Future with Michael J. Fox and he rides around in that silver car time machine maybe he does know about the future.. Hey Jim hit me back what is my future?? BTW come pick me up in the time machine I'd like to see what China does when they don't have the USA to trade with.. See Ya!
