I'm more a swing trader these days. I started a short basket of 5 airlines beginning 3/4/06 and last day selling was 5/10/06 (money)... Took some pain in the short run, but here are the results so far (covered some stil short all 5 to the tune of 60% of the total shorted: UAUA +17 3/4%...CAL +14.68....AMR +14.23....FRNT +9.80 and LCC which I started sell with a 3 handle all the way to 54! +2.05...Not great, but i'll take it over the next year or so, and yes i'm hoping the mkt rallies here in the next couple weeks so I can reload
oil could go to $200 yet people still need to fly and as long they need to fly there will be airlines As the financially unsound ones go broke the others will take more of the market share and make money
If airlines were able to switch to a cheaper ethanol based jet fuel, then the airlines would probably be the some of the most profitable companies around. Think about it...they sell out every seat, and they operate 24/7. cm69
