Edvige will be the main tool of the new combined super-agency, called the Direction Centrale du Renseignement Intérieur (Central Directorate of Internal Intelligence). The anti-Edvige opposition started after the National Commission on Information Technology and Freedom (CNIL), the data privacy watchdog, forced the Government to publish the secret decree that created Edvige in July. This alerted rights groups to the potentially vast scope of the network, whose full name is Exploitation Documentaire et Valorisation de l'Information Générale. "With just a few clicks of the mouse, any government official or civil servant will have access to intimate data," said Francois Bayrou, leader of the centrist MoDem party and a fierce opponent of President Sarkozy. The Socialist party demanded that the Government put the system under judicial supervision. Michel Pezet, a former member of the CNIL agency, said: "The Edvige database has no place in a democracy. There is nothing in the decree that sets limits or a framework. Whether the database is used with or without moderation depends only on orders from up high. The electronic Bastille is upon us." Hundreds of associations, including the main judges' union, civil liberties defenders, gay rights groups and leftwing lawyers have joined the anti-Edvige mutiny. Most newspapers â with the exception of the pro-Sarkozy Le Figaro â have joined the anti-Edvige campaign. I'd like to make a few comments on various points. Gays and pedophiles are not the same people. Your post gives that impression but it is not the case. Statistics of gays and pedophiles in the church are not higher than what you would find in the general population. Re: whackjobs of the 60's & 70's. The runaways and throw aways teens of parents of the WW2 generation that were living on the street were "rescued" or offered a place by the church actively filling a need to help these kids and get them off the street. Consequently many of these kids were abused and grew up to be abusers mostly due to lack of treatment and understanding of how to treat them.
You intentionally took my comment out of context, though you didn't change the words you quoted or their intent. Without the context, it appears that I am much more adamant one way or the other. You just set your own trap. Would you advocate making adoptive parents out of those suffering from schizophrenia or bipolar disorder? I think not. Their illness doesn't make them bad people just less than ideal as candidates for parenthood. Why can't homosexuals be viewed as similarly deficient? We all know of gay's higher than average proclivity to alcoholism, suicide and promiscuity. What's truly insane is those who think handing over parenthood to homos is kosher.....
There are different levels of dysfunction when it comes to mental illness. You certainly wouldn't advocate legislation revoking the custody of children from any parent who has any mental illness, would you, and if you do, where would you draw the bright line as to when to do so? In other words, at what point, specifically, would you actually take kids away from parents who are suffering mental health issues?
gays and pedophiles are the same when they are priests who molest boys. Whether gays do or do not have a proclivity towards pedophilia - is something I doubt we will every have good stats on. Regarding gays in the church. Again where are we going to get the stats. There were stories of seminaries embracing the gay lifestyle. Perhaps runaways and street kids did contribute to the amount of whack job priests. The problem is that even liberals do not believe there is effective treatment. it seems that once an abuser always an abuser.
It's truly a tragedy to have two souls adopt kids. Only those damn Jewish females would allow such a catastrophic event to take place!
