gg, the amazing randi has a large reward for anyone who can replicate even the smallest paranormal activity. the reward has never been claimed. this does not alter my belief that there was / is a creator--- but it does make me question if anything supernatural is involved in the affairs of men. best, surfer
This is a remarkable statement. Again, why do you assume that every supernatural/miraculous event is a fabrication? Considering that millions and millions of them are reported globally every year - by Christians and non-Christians I might add - I find it amazing that you would think so many are self-deluded. If you will go to a decent charismatic Christian church for a year or two, I promise you that you will see and hear of these things. Case in point: I know of a best friends' wife who could not go into missions because of a tumor the size of an orange that showed up on her xrays. She was prayed over and felt better and returned to the doctor. The doctor re-examined her and was astonished to find the tumor gone. He said in disbelief, "I guess you can go on your mission now." But if you go very long, I guarantee you'll definitely see such things happen. They don't happen every day, but they do definitely happen...
poor TM has two problems.. nothing between his ears.. and very little below his navel God screwed TM over TWICE! LMAO!! ps. TM = Total Moron_Direct
nothing can or will alter your belief because your belief is not based in anything rational so rational evidence will never [sadly] dissuade you [you poor poor soul] :-/
I know you're kidding.... Anyway, I don't think Benny claims to be the Son of God. I really don't know much about him. But if he starts claiming that he is God, or the Son of God, I'll take a closer look. From what I have read on other sites about him though, he hasn't done this. But I do like your spelling up there... I can easily read how you are writing it. You know, I have never heard anyone say it that way in real life, but I have heard that one where the guy ends every phrase with the sound "-ah", spoken sharply. "And so my brethren I say to you-ah, that on that day-ah, that glorious day-ah of His return-ah.." I was drivng thru Kentucky once and looking for a football game on the radio when the scan thing stopped on that station. It seems that there is some conflict within one who says he believes in a creator, and wonders why nothing has ever been done in a controlled environment. Sort of like the clay questioning the potter's hands. Which one of the mathematicians has figured out the formula of life? Or which one of the scientists has created life? Isaiah 55:8,9 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." And so it is that the servant does not require of the Master to prove Himself. Adopting the "I'll believe it when I see it" approach is certainly an option. And like all options, that approach will decay over time.... ha ha - get it? It is a trading site after all. Regarding the Pope's poor health.... first I trust that the Pope is a Christian. Second, as such if this is true then he has been promised everlasting life. When his earthly body dies, he will immediately be in Heaven, in the presence of God and Jesus. He will be in eternal paradise, free of the misery of this world. This is what he has been promised, this is what I have been promised, this is what every Christian has been promised. It is the reward for Faith in Him not born of proof in a controlled environment.
geez, ritchie, i thought your dark lord would approve of my questioning the validity of supernatural events. sorry,
This kind of statement just kills me. Belief in the supernatural can definitely be based on rational thought and evidence. I definitely believed in the supernatural based on my experiences before I became a Christian and it was only reinforced a 100 X after I became a Christian. You can believe what you want of course, but you cannot assert that the spiritual/supernatural is irrational nor w/o evidence. People believe in the supernatural for a reason and not just cuzz they're the victims of "mind control" or because they read in some "ancient book". It is perfectly rational to believe in God and it is perfectly rational to believe that He might intervene in the affairs of men. I am not disrespecting surfer's opinion - I am simply saying that there is no reason to think Christians and Jews irrational for believing in the supernatural/spiritual. If there is a God, it is not out of the question that He be involved in the affairs of mankind! My impression of marketsurfer is that he does not believe that God is involved in our lives, but you on the other hand assert you KNOW He does not. That imo is irrational...
i have been asking christian believers these things for years, and NO ONE has ever been able to answer me. i do not question the existence of a creator, but i do question his involvement in the affairs of men. james randi has issued the challenge to the world--- NO ONE-- christian, satanist, pagan or whatever has met the challenge. there is only one logical answer. why is there a conflict in my belief ? best, surfer
surf, i greatly respect your posts. But consider this: suppose just for a minute that the JudeoChristian respresentation of the world is true, i.e. suppose just for a minute that there is a Supreme Creator (per the Bible) and demons/devils, etc. Do you really think that someone can go up either to God or the devil and say do some tricks for me? Can you really say to some spiritual Being or being, "I can win a million bucks if you bend a spoon while I'm in this lab or on camera"? Just because God or some devil won't do tricks for Randi does not mean that the miraculous does not happen. I remember one evangelist came in and laid hands on a kid with cerebral palsy. I've never seen anything like it. It was like an explosion hit him. The kids arms were curled up and could barely move yet they went flailing around instantly - almost violently - when the guys hands touched his head. You can argue if you want whether or not it was God, but if you'd seen it, I guarantee that you would not argue whether or not it was supernatural. I could go on and on...
