why do you need a god? perhaps life is product of fortuitous spontaneous assemblage? we dont need no forlorn bearded man..we got lots of TIME for infinite interactions! POOF! LIFE crawling up the beach! :-/
i knew you'd say this. why do you need your god? are you this afraid of the dark you'll cling to child fairy tales? use you head man! think! you're worshipping ghosts in the mind's machine! gather your strenghth..overcome man! push out these squirrels, clear the mental cache, delete all the Favorites, and be FREE!! BE FREE!! :-/
Oh so this explains your lineage? Just kidding you, I know it was a cheap shot. Every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to know WHY? Why are we here? I think people should spend less time looking for an answer in an empty building or an old book and just enjoy being in the here and now.
Well, I kind of hate to get into this, because I feel I've done a pretty good job of not getting "preachy", but the quick answer to your question is the Holy Spirit. I believe, as do all Christians that I know, that the Holy Spirit has drastically altered my personality and behavior. I mean I can definitely say that I am a very, very different person from the day I became a Christian. Of course, I know you would argue that that is the day my "self-deception" began...
Again, this assumes no interaction of God with man. You are assuming God cannot or will not get involved personally with an individual human being... I don't debate evolution too much, because I don't see it as that relevant. In fact, it's really only relevant if one could prove it not to be true.
I knew that is how you would respond. You are back to your attempts to minimize the values of others, to place yourself in some elite position as having the correct view of what others should or shouldn't want. Use your head and understand that you practice a religion just like everyone else, as in the final analysis you are just espousing your beliefs and opinions on what people should do, think, believe in, etc. I am still waiting, does science have the definitive answer to why we are here and what our purpose is?
More huge, huge assumptions here. When I was involved with the occult, I knew (and still know to this day) that there was a spiritual reality to what I experienced. I WAS using my head then. I had absolutely NO question that there was a spiritual/supernatural side to life on planet earth. Now, as a Christian, I have experienced a 100X more of these supernatural/spiritual experiences. You simply cannot talk someone like myself into a naturalistic viewpoint. As I told Axe, you cannot tell a Navajo skinwalker that there is no spiritual side to life. You cannot tell one of the lamas that there is no supernatural. For that matter, you can't even tell Mick Jaggar that there is no spiritual aspect of life. They all know better. There is a spiritual reality behind the Navajo skinwalker, the Dalai lama, the Satanist, the occultist and the Christian in Communist China. I submit that it's not a question of whether it's there - it's a question of who is right. You assume that we have believed because we have not used our reasoning, our senses. I ask, "Why?"
