    Whispers

The man whispered, "God, speak to me"
    and a meadowlark sang.

But, the man did not hear.

So the man yelled, "God, speak to me"
and the thunder rolled across the sky.

But, the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said,
    "God let me see you."
    And a star shined brightly.

But the man did not see.

    And, the man shouted,
    "God show me a miracle."
    And, a life was born.

But, the man did not notice.

So, the man cried out in despair,
"Touch me God, and let me know you are here."
Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man.

But, the man brushed the butterfly away ... and walked on.

Don't miss out on a blessing

  2. Dogmatic is dogmatic, whether the dogmatism is coming from an atheist, a theist, a liberal democrat or a right wing republican.

Those who say they know what is right for others fall into this category.

Life is difficult enough trying to figure it out for oneself, but those who can tell others that their path is wrong are nearly always lacking real contentment in their own path.

My own personal wish is not to change the mind of other people nor deter them from their path. My preference is for them to accept that their path is based on a belief system (not pure absolute fact) due to the nature of the human mind and come to a level of acceptance of different points of view and different human experiences.

The way we are wired requires leaps of faith every single day, if not every single second that we believe without knowledge that the next moment will not be our last. If people came out of denial and accepted this fact, there would be much less conflict in the world, as people could then focus on their own beliefs and not on the beliefs of others which are none of their business.

If a guy like longshot wants to get drunk and read from atheist websites, that is his right. However, when he then begins to attack others as "irrational" something is lacking in the sense of being "reasonable."

The atheists rest on this concept of "rational" versus "irrational" when life itself is not fully capable of "rational" thought as humans are not computers. We are as much emotional and feeling as we are intellectual. Having a balance between the two and having the wisdom to know when to exercise which part of our psyche is part of a maturation process.

I don't believe the active atheists on this board are representative of those who are at peace with their atheism.

Rather this group seems to have an "issue" with theism. There is quite a difference between an atheist who is angry at theism and an atheist who has no concern with theism.

When this is pointed out to them they become even more hostile and defensive of their belief system and their behaviors (yes, atheism is a belief system).

The same is true of those who hate liberals or hate conservatives. No one knows what the right course of action is with 100% certainty going forward, yet some people act as if they do know.

The lack of grayness in these black and white thinkers demonstrates in my opinion a genuine lack of active gray matter.

  3. Jesus never said he created the universe, he said, and I quote --

"Let me tell you something Pendejo, you pull any a ur crazy shit wit us, u flash a piece out on the lanes, I'll take it away from you, stick it up ur ass and pull the fuckin trigger until it goes click!"

And if he never existed then who is this speaking?

    MY REPLY:
Ok then, what would you say to someone that believes in vampires or unicorns, because there is just as much evidence supporting the existence of unicorns and vampires as there is evidence supporting the existence of god? Actually there is probably more evidence supporting vampires than god.

I'd bet that you'd be quite pompous towards a unicorn believer, especially if you had your fellow theists around to back you up.

Why does longshot and GG call you irrational, because unicorns have pointy horns.

  5. Freedom of religion includes the right for someone to practice in the worship of vampires, unicorns, or anything else someone wishes.

It is of no concern to me unless they persecute me for my beliefs or engage in behavior that is criminal or dangerous to themselves or others in the process.

Yes, dangerous to themselves is a societal issue.

  6. And so the reason why all I can do is write poetic broadsides that the theists call psycho-babble is because I've given up on reasonable debate. There is no possibility of wining through reason a debate in which a contestant believes in unicorns.

I cannot win this debate because my challenger's basis for reason doesn't match mine. You're in my aesthetic opinion, insane, under the number one definition.

Another bottom line: fair enough, believe what you will. If you can just acknowledge why we think god believers are insane and stupid due to a lack of science, we could succeed in something.

  7. You are entitled to your opinion.

All the major and leading professional organizations of psychologists, psychiatrists, neuro-psychologists, neurologists, and neuro-physiologists have not concluded that belief in God is an indicator of a lack of sanity or unreasonable human behavior.

So you are on the wrong side of professionals and experts in the field....not a surprise to me at all.

  8. What the rubbish have you been reading other than the bible. Here you go, if you won't believe me, believe them, enlighten yourself. I was once a god idiot. I walked the earth without possessions. I changed and so can you. Try logic, it will help you more than you can possibly imagine.

    Foucalt
    Nietzsche
    Derrida
    Deleuze
    Satre
    Camus

And I've known and met many psychologists and none of them believed in god. The god debate is usually a philosophical one. Your nero, psyc, arguement is innacurate. You have to read the books by the above stated people to be able to debate with me. There have been many instances of illegal insanity found in people that are religious fanatics. You really don't understand anything I write.

  9. i feel the same way. i don't even really bother to debate religion because even if you technically destroy religious people in a debate (like axeman does), they will still ignore reality and logic. so basically, now i just make outrageous annoying anti-religion statements and act like an ass. lol

  10. "Best" philosophers in your opinion only, not an established fact.

I can match you one for one of philosophers who were theists and of equal regard among the professional philosophical community.

Pointless exercise and a fallacious argument as it is based in the appeal to authority fallacy on your side.

There is no consensus in the field of philosophy as to which is the "best" philosophy concerning the existence of God, so there is no authority to appeal to.
