No new trades for me so far after lunch. There really hasn't been much going on compared to this morning.
Alright, done for the day here. Much better than yesterday but I definitely failed to maximize my opportunities. The trades that I took were all very good entries but a few of them were grossly mismanaged once in the trade. There were also probably twice as many trades that I "saw" but did not get into. My goal is obviously to take all of the ones that I see. Total for the day per contract was +4 ticks in ES on 3 trades and +29 ticks in NQ on 3 trades.
a day of good calls, may your insight continue. i am calling it "insight" as it seems as if your trading style is mostly discretionary based on price action, but no doubt with a tentative stop in mind with each entry as your risk management seems pretty tight? keep on doing what you are doing profitably and thanks for posting bro
Thanks man, yes my trading is purely discretionary. It is also based on just price action, I don't use any technical indicators, etc. My risk is usually pretty tight, a big losing trade for me is 2pts or so on ES. I've found that not putting a stop order in has dramatically helped my trading. I put a "disaster" stop in 5 or so points away in ES in case some external event causes an enormous move, but trades are exited manually. What I'm really hoping is that by doing this journal it pushes me to 1) take all the trades that I see and 2) to maximize the opportunities in the trades that I'm in.
Jeff, Shorted NQ 1774 in the morning, got stopped 1776.5, HOD to the tick. I have an automatic 2.5 stop which is 1.5 account risk for me. So easy to forget to measure the entry relative to a survivable stop (not even possible sometimes).. Maybe my stop is too small considering I intra-day swing trade for min 5 points? Good trading..
Hi there, I think it's tough setting stops like that purely based on your account size. I've tried it before and the results that I got were never good or consistent. The way I'm approaching my trading now is to just get out when the market tells me I'm wrong. The market doesn't know or care how big our accounts are! Best of trading to you too!
