  1. yeah its not the end of the world. US economic structure will become similar to other high debt laden countries, and their stock markets do go up.

the problem arises when the purposefully bad economic policies, lead to debt servicing difficulties. Meaning higher 10 year bond rates, since foreign buyers will shun our debt.

this war has consumed and looted the american treasury. It enriched GOP linked affiliates, Halliburton, oil companies and defense companies. It enriched Russia and is beneficial in that our wealth is leading to russian reconstruction.

otherwise russia would become a cornered animal, with no way out. Notice how the russian threat is being brought back on purpose to stem the decline of the dollar.

some policy makers might have thought the war on terrorism would benefit the dollar, but its the exact opposite. A unseen enemey diffused througout the globe, is not the same as a multimillion man army at the borders.

Russia again will become the gun pointed at Europe. To unsettle the Europeans and protect American interests globally. To battle this, the Europeans would have raise their own armies and increase defense spending to similar US standards and destroy the fundamental picture of the EURO currency.

  2. If you want to see tax dollars going into the markets look at the Term Investment Options - TIOs - that started in 02 where the Treasury loans tax receipts to dealer banks. Combine these with repos by NY Fed and multiply by leverage.

They need to deregulate banking more so I can become one. :D

  3. Usual translation of manipulation = "I" got whipsawed or didn't catch the move.

I find it ironic that Jeff says to buy fear, yet when someone else bought fear on Wednesday, it's somehow a contrived move.

And thanks for the profound advice regarding momentum on the downside from here being a red flag.

  4. Buying fear is one thing, a mysterious buy followed by a huge out of the blue move the next day, well.

  5. Just because we don't know the reason for the move does not mean the market was manipulated by anyone. There are plenty of unexplained moves in the market, and even the moves that seem to have an explanation may actually have a false explanation.
