Jasper 0.5 comments : Installation is a mess on a Windows 2000 SP3 non US. It always say my files are not up to date and it wants to reboot. After rebooting, it says again next time I try to install that my files are not up to date... I guess this is because of my langage is not english... You could probably find an easier install program (have a look at how Bracket Trader handles it for example). I was forced to extract your .CAB manually ... --- Then when I click on Broker to connect to my IB TWS 781 with API6 I have a runtime error 449 and it crashes. I do have eSignal and the quotes are properly refreshed, it is just the cnx between IB and Jasper that doesn't work. For info Bracket Trader, AutoQtion or other applications works fine here...
Jasper enhancements request : Paper trading module : When you don't connect the broker, you can still click on BUY and SELL and something is written in the position monitor... Unfortunately you write a 0 size and don't refresh the P/L : it would be great to refresh it and also to display a window with Day net P/L somewhere... This 2 functionnalities, not hard to program will transform Jasper in a paper trading program.
I forgot the following enhancements : It would be good to remember the previous size, and Bracket Entries, Stop Limits settings each time you reload the application.
Are running the latest version? A lot of what you said has been fixed. I will have a new download on Monday. The paper-trading module will be hooked into a database so you can buy the ask and sell the bid -- which is approximate to real life but actually ever-so slightly tougher. However it would serve it's purpose. The jasper.zip is outdated and will be refreshed on Monday.
Nice work, I decided to check it out: a funny thing happened. I placed a stop limit order and wanted to add another (being that i did not read anything) i figured the (P) buttons were order (P)rice adjustment buttons (seems logical to me). Anyway, I wanted to place and order that was a few points out of the market, and assumed that I needed to click the (P) button a BUNCH of times (HA HA). After I hit it 4-5 times (not sure) I was able to stop: I was hearing order after order being filled by the TWS (shite)! I quickly exited my new found positions (for a loss of course). Besides my ignorance, it looks like a really nice piece of work.
Oh dear ... P+ and P- are for scalping and go in as market orders for ES and NQ. Thanks for the suggestion for the price adjustments, though. That could come in handy. Perhaps everyone should wait until Monday for the new version. I'll try to throw together a preliminary manual so that sort of thing doesn't happen. Sorry that happened to you. I suggest playing with IB's demo a lot before going live.
