Thank you RN ============= Wasted the day, wasted opportunities. Good focus & lost focus. A couple little mistakes & some well executed trades. Calm throughout though. Not pleased at all with my overall execution. It's not that I'm regressing but I'm not progressing. I think I need a few more / longer breaks during the day. My breaks usually are only a few minutes for bathroom or snacks. I should probably review my pre trade procedures mid session too. More emphasis on process goals. Like today, goal was don't increase my target. At least I did that successfully. Might have to talk out my management/PA during the trade. Stay motivated , man. Remember why I trade. 15 trades +2 ticks. Was +26 then went -21 and finished +2.
A longer break is a good idea, IMHO. I take a breakfast break after a couple hours because of: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decision_fatigue "Experiments have shown the interrelationship between decision fatigue and ego depletion, whereby a person's ability for self-control against impulses decreases in the face of decision fatigue."
Thanks, ND. Good reference. I remember the study, I may have got it from you and I see it as a reference in the wiki, about fatigue leading to decision avoidance by parole boards. Prisoners with similar histories were more likely to be released if their case was reviewed early in the day or right after lunch rather than later in morning/afternoon. Decision fatigue/avoidance considered to be the differentiating factor. That was some CL session today. I trust you took the entries I missed.
J Another thought; Instead for trading the entire day with periodic breaks Set aside a dedicated block of time (say 2..., or 3 hrs) for uninterrupted..., and totally focused trading Trade that time - then take the rest of the session off As that block becomes easier to sustain - incrementally increase it Think build into/ up to an entire session - as opposed to breaking up entire session Helps eliminate the thinking we're ready (after a respite) - but then finding we really weren't (trading undisciplined after said short break) Be brief..., be good..., be gone Just a thought RN
If I throw out Monday it was a good week. If only. First trade today was beautiful. Uncomfortable on entry but took the valid trigger. Price went +20 it bounced & I dismissed urge to grab 'something' around +10, then back to +4, . Moved target a little closer to +20 then put it back (actually put it to 24 instead of 25 by mistake) then price hit target. Rewarded for being uncomfortable throughout. Slipped up in chop. Took breaks. (traded from home today which is very nice) Took some good trades. Avoided later session chop finished +35 ticks today . + 32 ticks for the week. Green after commish. for week Lessons this week. Re-learned about not trading tired. Monday was tired/mental breakdown. Things to do: Review trades and set ups. Study to avoid chop. Likely more mental than anything. Work on goals, procedures to stay focused (breaks) and affirmations. Need to up my discipline. I believe I've traded with better discipline and execution in the past. So I'm encouraged that I'm hanging in there despite mistakes. And as I make the needed corrections I'm encouraged by the potential results. I'm a little discouraged that I'm not ramping up faster. Yeah, that glass is just a bit above half full. Lunch then some review. Have a good weekend traders !
Think about / start preparing for this Sunday afternoon / evening One week back and thinks he should be a trading machine - jeesh =================== Ya done good this week - let yourself know that Have a good weekend J..., Monday will be here before Ya know it Good Job Sir RN
Thanks, RN . Good weekend to you. I think 2+ weeks back. Hence the warranted impatience. p.s. finally got around to purchasing neuro programmer. been playing with that yesterday a today.
thanks. Program keeps shutting down and generates an error log. Got a support ticket emailed in. Hope to give it a try later.
Interesting software How well does it work and anyone quantified their trading results after using neuro programmer? Alpha
