Its the ultra-close approach of the moon on March 19th. Earthquake occurrences likely approximate a nice gaussian curve with its peak on the 19th. Not the magnitudes but the occurrences. The extreme tidal action can put alot of energy into the ocean and that can manifest as huge storms to go along with the earthquakes.
