I assume you've seen the footage. "Summary execution" my ass, she was part of the people assaulting the building, many of whom were armed. Her death is a tragedy but it is not like it was unexpected that some defender would break under the pressure.

There was no insurrection. Trump used legal means to try and get the election overturned. What he did was legal.

Very few, if any were armed. You continue this garbage unchecked.

  5. The footage shows that there were at least two other officers who were closer to Babbitt but were not and did not see her as the threat that the panicky officer who executed her did.

In addition, the presence of weapons somewhere in the vicinity of the Capitol building, if true, did not create a basis for executing someone who was not brandishing a weapon nor was anyone near her.

Pelosi and Bowser failed to call in the troops that Trump had authorized - but the locals make the final decision- and they were all panicked and overwhelmed and the general failure of the Capitol Police to have a plan beforehand is reprehensible.

  6. Nobody could have predicted that several hundred people were going to storm the Capitol...until trump told then to go to the Capitol while he went in the other direction.

It is funny how the capitol police failure was reprehensible but the actions of the several hundred were unarmed tourists or peaceful protestors...

Babbit played a stupid game and lost.....sad.
It was an emotional charged environment with a riot setting and police being attacked all.over. And you choose in that environment to climb through a closed entry guarded...for what? What as Babbit intending to do? Now you supoort.cops.waiting.and seeing?

Her death is a tragedy but the police who were injured or died doing their job were reprehensible for not being prepared?

but she could have chosen not to.climb through a door leading to the chambers or stayed outside. You get hindsight to say there were no weapons but didnt you see the videos of police getting pummeled and hit. That was relayed over the radios. It is so convenient for couch tards to say She was no threat but cops are.allowed.to shoot people.sitting still or running away.

  7. Troops were available nearby and had been authorized by Trump. It required Pelosi's and Bowser final orders.

Nothing you have said excuses that. The fact that they did not expect it is not a reason to be a deer in the headlights. The response should have been to authorize the troops that were on standby as events unfolded.

Neither Pelosi nor the House sergeant at arms could have stopped an ordered deployment of National Guard troops because Congress doesn’t control the National Guard, legal experts say. Guard troops are generally controlled by governors, though they can be federalized, said William C. Banks, a law professor at Syracuse University.

The online claims “make no sense at all,” Banks said, adding, “The House sergeant at arms, he or she is not in the chain of command. Nor is Nancy Pelosi.”

“The speaker was no more in charge of the security of the U.S. Capitol that day than Mitch McConnell,” Drew Hammill, Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, told the AP in an email.

The AP has previously reported on false claims that Pelosi blocked the National Guard from coming to the capitol on Jan. 6. As the newly released footage showed, she and McConnell, then Senate majority leader, called for military assistance, including the National Guard, during the attack.

  9. oops

Former Vice President Mike Pence’s national security adviser, Gen. Keith Kellogg told committee investigators that he never heard Trump ask for the National Guard or a law enforcement response. When asked by the committee whether he would have known if troops were to be present or called up for a rally near the Capitol, Kellogg said: "Yeah, I would have."

In March, Capitol Police spokesperson John Stolnis told USA TODAY that the agency is overseen by the Capitol Police Board. Several congressional committees also oversee the agency, including the House and Senate appropriations committees, the House administration commitee and the Senate rules committee.

The Capitol Police Board is made up of the House and Senate sergeants-at-arms, as well as the Capitol architect. The Capitol Police chief serves in a non-voting capacity on the board, according to the Capitol Police website.

Pelosi was not a chair or administrator of any committee supervising the Capitol Police at the time of the insurrection. She's not listed on any of those committees' websites today, either.
