J-Trader $4.80 Round Turn

  1. Nonono. Wait a sec. The penny hasn't dropped yet. I mentioned Button because it's a good platform for the only one of these brokers that don't support other plugins / because it is only available at IB. Yet it's nice to have at IB and then again shame it's not portable. It is '2 different worlds' as I said, but in their respective worlds, each are very good. Your "don't crasp how BT can be a valiable alternative for x-trader" does therefore not apply, since it is not an alternative. Your broker is either IB, or he isn't. If he is, you can't use X, if he isn't, you can't use B.

Other than personal preference, I have no affiliation or 'deal' with anybody here. I hope this has clarified your confusion. So let's keep up the standard and stop replying if it's just for the purpose of avoiding flame-baiting or getting off-topic and into platform philosophy.

    Have a nice one,

  2. what is the cost of button trader vs. Xtrader for active traders?

Please use and example of someone trading 900 plus times a month - all inclusive costs.

  3. Ditch

    Ditch

Have a good day as well, you've clarified more than enough for my taste, though off-topic.

  5. With these new exchange rates for clearing coming into the mix, I predict IB to adjust.

IB is self clearing...so their model always was able to offer extreme low commish. I see the playing field changing next month....Their service has never been a selling point, but rumor has it, that they have improved service recently.

But what do I know....I have been wrong before.....

I suggest to maintain 2 accts., IB and AF might be 2 good choices.

  7. STANDALONE vs WEB-BASED PLATFORMS

Some would advise using a web-based platform vs standalone because a web-based version has the benefit of handling "intermittent" disconnects with ease, since the internet connection that it uses would simply "transfer" to another server.

A standalone version is essentially "locked-into" one internet connection. Should the quality of that connection deteriorate, or even terminate, then you are totally screwed, and your platform won't be able to come back up until that one Server and IP connection get fixed.

  8. I've been trading eminis with JTrader (AF/GHCO) for several months now and have had no problems. None. The version I use is standalone. In the DOME window, I can slide my stops up and down the price scale; left click for a limit order, right click for a stop order. Easy as pie. There are many other ways to enter orders (other windows, custom keys, etc). The fills/cancels are very, very fast. The software is very configurable (fast keys, confirm/fill popups on/off, fonts, etc.)

For my needs it fits the bill. The demo version is not current and does not let you change/cancel stops, so that may dissuade you needlessly. I've read some Jtrader bashing here by people who have not even traded with the live software, so I had to speak up.

  10. I think the fact that you are with GHCO as a clearing firm is a big factor in you not having problems IMO. From what I am learning, it is the RCG clearing firm through a JTrader platform where there seems to be the most problems.
