Ivan's Trade Thread, part II

Discussion in 'Forex' started by Ivanovich, Sep 12, 2008.

  1. USDCHF looks really difficult to scalp. There is no clear trend direction up or down, and previous sessions put today smack in the middle...
It might become a bit more clear now with US RTH starting.

Ahm, some setup for short maybe emerging .. just now ... look above 1.1350 - preferrable as high as possible ... but it could be a breakout as well. Look for fast-retracting spikes and then confirmation that it was a stop-run... but need to be wary of possible break-out ... letting 2 stop-runs go before is even better :)

  2. With a 5, 15 and 30 minute chart, do you see a downward trendline? Looks like it's around 1.1334, may go through or drop there?

  3. Looking at 5min myself now... it looked like a USD spike there, and that is probably telling for the starting US RTH now ... wait for the US session to start a little - get some feel first.

It might be worth a shot ... with stops at 1.1370 ... that would mean sub 1.1300 profit target.

But given yesterday's trading - it is difficult to predict.

It doesn't seem very clear - maybe look for some connection on some other pairs ... which pair seem to be leading the USDCHF...

  5. davidmaria1,
    you are pretty trigger-happy :)

The USD spike just now shows that there is some real USD buying, and it would be useful to see how the US RTH open goes.

It doesn't look too bad right now, but the stop is tight... be sure to lock in profits at +10pips if it goes to +25pips - as it could spike quickly again.

Euro rising on the US open ... that might be ok for the CHF as well. putting pressure on the USD.
Definitely looks like EURUSD and EURJPY is leading USDCHF as well. Look for exit clues for the USDCHF on those as well. Troubling spikes, though.

Remember to lock in some profits, maybe just a few pips (like 3) - but still - don't let it go negative.

Also, if EURJPY goes above or close to 141, and/or EURUSD 1.3740 - then look for better target than 1.1300 .

15:46 CET - looks very ominous right now.
15:49 CET - hope you closed the trade... at some little profit.

Better wait for a better setup - longer into the US RTH. Some USD struggling going on - that is very evident in the various pairs.
Look for fast-spiking entries later if you want to catch the top/bottom on the USDCHF wave...

  6. My position is at 350 pip profit currently ( EUR / USD @ 1.3370 ). Still holding, next stop should be the retracement at 1.3867.

EUR / JPY and GBP / JPY are retracing faster but are also more volatile. Still a good call for EUR / JPY though.

  8. USDJPY as well looking to move...

JPY and USD strengthening bias seen in starting US RTH.

  10. USDCHD short at 1.1354 target +40pips... stop -15pips

    16:33 CET stop now 1.1352
    16:34 CET stopped .. :)

I think the entry was good, but an unfortunate stop. A bit erratic still.

Looks like USD repatriation effects are still ongoing.

16:43 CET not following USDCHF any longer... more interesting pairs are with EURUSD, USDJPY and EURJPY

    USDJPY tanking...
There was a BoJ extraordinary meeting earlier. Maybe some good setups now.
