None that I can see. My point is, Vista may not be anything to welcome, but I haven't found it to be anything to fear, either
bought mac 5 months ago . No complaint oh have 1 complaint; poor ISP internet. but that totally unrelated
Vista is loaded on my new Dell Inspiron 1525 laptopcmute and 'm usig it ow that'swhy my typing is allmessed up. Now you know. Vista lags and is unresponsive and clunky. I want Windows 98 back.
I use TradeStation 8.3 on an old Dell Dimension 8250, which is Pentium 4 with 2.66GHz CPU and 512MB memory, and running Windows XP Pro. I haven't upgraded this desktop "yet", because it's working fine for my purpose and I don't run much indicators/analyses on charts or RadarScreen. Basically a simple single software trading station for two 20" monitors. I chose to spend money buying a new notebook during this time. I wonder if a brand new Dell PC with Vista pre-loaded will make no significant improvement in performance compared to my dinosaur Pentium 4. I suppose a new Core 2 Duo processor with enough 2GB (or 3GB) memory will give my TradeStation platform a huge hardware boost, if I select only the Vista Basic? Since I cannot pre-configure XP from Dell, is Windows Home Basic the right choice for minimal graphics-processor-intensive OS? (of topic here, but i was advised not to install my existing Norton Internet 2008 when i buy the new PC, as it will slow down my TradeStation datafeed/charts. but with the latest hardware, TradeStation 8.3 and Norton Internet 2008 should co-exist well right? My family already paid for the Norton license for two yrs.)
I decided to get Windows XP Pro for my Dell laptop instead of business Vista. It still comes with the Vista Business license and DVD. I have played around with Vista, and just found it to be to slow, need too many new applications and hardware to make it work, and don't like the buggy security features that don't work anyway. Vista computers get viruses just like XP computers. I heard they may be coming out with something better in a couple years, so I plan to wait. I may upgrade to sp3 on XP 1st instead.
I would not recommend XP SP3. It didn't play nicely with some of my anti-virus and firewall software. XP SP2 is the bomb diggity.
No one needs anti virus on a trading pc. Quit doing porn and music in a trading pc. I have 2 computers used for charts and trades...........NEVER installed any anti virus or spyware crap in them because they are not for web browsing and e-mail. Before anyone says i am wrong i say do not waste your time because i know i am right. PS: Been reading about windows 7, that made me send out an order for an extra copy of windows XP Professional. Windows 7 looks like more bloatware and garbage on top of VISTA bloatware. Just like trading KISS works. Microsoft is telling us they have the basic down ok but needs to do as wall street will do with garbage IPO to the public.......... Put some lipstick on that pig and shove it out the door. I been thinking XP will be the De rigueur operating system for a few years. Iwill have a spare to install in next box. http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/08/15/windows-feature
Incorrect. You CAN still get a Dell with XP installed... just get one of their small business computers... T3400 is excellent.
