Not everyone who claims to be on the left side of the political spectrum signs up to 100% of the left political ideologies. I, for one, on this topic - while a complex one - tends to side more with the conservative view. The problem I have is that the right is supposed to be for "freedom" and "liberties" and then they tell others (others being trans, gays, women who seek an abortion etc.) what they should or should not do. This is hypocrisy at its finest to me. EDIT: Tuxan I agree with Tsing Tao, good thread.
What would help a great deal to acheiving detente between the right and left - at least starting with the users on this forum - would be for you to clearly call out the left political ideologies you find disagreeable. Because when you don't speak up on those things, everyone assumes you go along with them. Right or wrong, that's just the way it goes. We tend to call out the other side on every little thing. Then we ignore when our side does stuff we would absolutely rail against if it were the other side doing. Some users on this forum claim to be impartial, but when questioned, immediately "turtle up" and try to defend their actions. I do my best to be impartial, but I'm sure I fail repeatedly. This isn't a destination, its a journey. I'll try better at being fair in my analysis with those of you who also do so. My personal kryptonite is when people get all snarky, which provokes me to be snarky in return. If people are civil (like Tuxan in this thread), I will always try to repay that kindness with kindness.
No matter how badly Trump tramples on my core values of free markets, free trade and free speech, he's better than Harris. Even if he gets worse. Even if he becomes the worst possible. Illogical? No, because... people with colored hair.
Because your post is meant to pick a fight. It's snarky. You and I have known each other on this site, what...over a decade? I'm pretty sure we each know the other's tricks, moods and "go-tos" quite well. The only thing missing in your post is an "amirite?" Trump is better than Harris - my opinion. And I can back that up with lots of supporting reasons that, while you may not agree with, are subjective and true to me (which is what matters in regards to my own support). Obviously, if Trump did despicable things and ended up going overboard to become the "worst ever" (your words), I would change that viewpoint.
Doesn't matter who it's meant to pick a fight with. It's meant to pick a fight. And this thread is attempting to find common ground, that's all. Go pick a fight on one of the other 100,000 threads on this forum where melees are already in progress. I, for one, would welcome the highly intelligent Ricter in this thread who I know can add to a conversation rather than the snarky guy who shows up most of the time.
