This is not exactly the high level thinking we need. Iran is wooing the floor with Trump in the Middle East. Now we still don’t know what the basis for the Soleimani killing was but there is a good chance Trump needed to do something extreme to reset the landscape. Sometimes that’s the right thing to do. We have superior weapons and military and all of that but what’s the point? We are now back to the old game of Iran is on a path to going nuclear, again. It’s a reset to the last decade and they have gained ground on us in Iraq while weakening Saudi Arabia in the last theee years. You look at the US killing this guy and think it’s the be all but Iran has been steadily racking up wins on Trump. The maximum pressure campaign has been a total failure with zero gains to show and nothing but losses for Trump.
That's because he knows he's going to die soon (whether naturally or otherwise) and he also knows there aren't 72 virgins waiting for him, regardless. Crybaby.
Trump is a reckless, imminent threat to the citizens of several countries right now. Not hard to conclude what that might mean.
No one doubts that Iran and especially the Ayatollah are rooting for Bernie or Joe Biden. That's gotta give you the daily confirmation you need that dems are the way to go. Make Ilhan Omar the Secretary of Defense and Talib the Secretary of Homeland Security. What could go wrong there?
Trump is a windfall for the ayatollah. Iran has not been so galvanized around the state theocracy in more than a decade. The Soleimani killing basically destroyed all of the internal opposition for years. The prize now is Iraq and we are looking like we will lose that relatively soon. I get that the Soleimani killing grabbed some headlines and sort of shifted the perception of the reality on the ground but the truth is we are still on our heels in the Middle East under Trump. Iran is in a stronger position today than when Trump assumed office. They have more ground and moving forward with nuclear. I hear the war drums beating but Iran is not Iraq. Our ability to build a real coalition is not there and there are many players with firm footprints in the Middle East now that can make a war with Iran *unwinnable*. We are in a dangerous time with very little upside.

And as far as the galavaniing bit, those fuckers chant Death to America six days a week for decades regardless of what the fuck is going on so those big crowds mean shiite the following week. There is an entire generation of Iranians who are interested in a more western-friendly life and want to see an improved economy while all this endless jihad shit is going on. And yes, it tweaks their national pride to see a foreign country knock off someone they - the protester generation- hate but they also know it advances their cause. Either way, they are not going to live in bleakness for the jihad shit forever, and accept deals where Iran gets 150 billion and all of it goes to terrorist shit and nuclear development.
