The US failed at diplomacy? It was a mistake by the US to kill the general? So what is now the solution?

So taking an action like killing the #3 official in a nation needs to have a long term plan behind it because while we may be able to avoid a shooting war at the moment Soleimani will become a standard tHe theocrats in Iran can rally behind, strengthening the regimes hold on power.

If we are going to start a shooting war, like we did, then we need to have a shooting war because the effects in Iran of this killing will not be of any benefit to us.

Right wing idiots think this killing of Soleimani is a victory but it’s not. It jeopardizes our standing in Iraq, weakens our alliances and emboldens our enemies.

Trump threatened 52 strikes if Iran retaliated, which they did, now he has to manage not following through on that threat.

That is unless he wanted to start a real war then this is the time to retaliate.

I think the long term plan has been in place, this in reality changed nothing except for letting the Iranians know they would not be allowed to move openly throughout the region with their proxy wars.

Soleimani was instrumental in Iran’s military planning and use of proxy assets. This was a major blow to their strategic efforts and in all likelihood stalled or canceled several planned attacks like we’ve witnessed lately. Not mentioning the negative effects on their ability to plan out future attacks.

Congress will be getting the briefing on the Soleimani killing and there should be an element in there that deals with imminent attacks, as this was the justification for the killing.

This guy is bigger in death than he was in life and he was Big in life. Don’t think Iran is some back water without succession planning. I’m sure his death will stall a lot of the short term agenda they were moving on but the mid range and long term strategy just got bigger due to this killing.

Iraq is the prize right now.

  8. If you clowns find a snake in a baby's crib, you want to pull into a lotus position and think about what to do and what the baby did wrong to cause the snake to be there.

Solemenie was the number one terrorist in the world and he was actively involved in attempts to kill even more Americans so Trump killed him first. He was following a plan. He plans to kill anyone who attacks Americans, and if the consequences get big, well then, we get big.

  9. Congress lacks the constitutional authority to define or limit when a president feels he must take immediate action to fulfill his requirements to protect the country under the constitution.

Congress does not like what he does, they can try to impeach him.

Mitch is not exactly the zippiest guy in town but it was funnier than hell the other day when he quipped: "I was the Senate Majority Leader and I don't remember anyone notifying me before killing Osama Bin Laden."
