Man you don't get out much do you? Story of just 1 Chicago firm to wet your beak. https://daily.sevenfifty.com/how-warehouse-automation-is-revolutionizing-alcohol-distribution/
I estimate that you are less than 30 years old. "I do not get out much". Holy SHIT if you believe the shit that article speaks for the entire trucking industry. You do know it is an industry piece, yes? "SevenFifty is an online platform for the beverage alcohol trade; SevenFifty Daily is an online magazine published by SevenFifty for professionals in the industry."
Look, I know you want to continue to fight over this issue, but it is new year's and all that. Blah. Let's continue the silly next week, man, It has been a rough year.
DOT regulations will not let 3 trailers hook up to a cab which is why you dont see trucks pulling 3 trailers now. Maybe research NHTSA and FHA regulations. Automating the truck wont change that. You are living in a fantasy land to think there will be man less trucks driving all over the country.
Automating a trailer is bad. Automating a double-hitch is doubly bad. And if they want to pull into a TA stop, while the little Prius is stuck in the drive-up? Double-trailer auto-brake fail beats little Prius trying to escape impending doom. Prius=crushed. Ooops!
Yeah you're right, there are never any accidents caused by overtired human truck drivers. We'll just let this thread rest and revisit it from time to time as things develop. btw I turned 60 2 months ago-LOL
Ahhhh. Come on ON, think about this for a second. If they have trucks smart enough to drive themselves reliably down the highway, the technology and equipment required to have automated refueling stations is pretty much stone-age level compared to what it takes to get them there in the first place. You are thinking about what's out there today. They can just build, and for cheap too, purposed off ramps that don't really exit the interstate, similar to weigh stations, where trucks would just roll in and position themselves for a robotic arm to come down and fill em up. They can even weigh them at the same time, which means they can close all the weigh stations and fire some government employees while they're at it. Double plus plus. As oftentimes happens in these threads, this conversation evoked a blast from the past. When the lights go down in the California town People are in for the evening I jump into my car and I throw in my guitar My heart beatin' time with my breathin' Drivin' over Kanan, singin' to my soul There's people out there turnin' music into gold Well my buddy Jim Bass he's a-workin' pumpin gas And he makes two fifty for an hour He's got rythm in his hands as he's tappin' on the cans Sings rock and roll in the shower Drivin' over Kanan, singin' to my soul There's people out there turnin' music into gold (That's Stevie Nicks adding some harmony btw) Gold.
If this is true, why would we want to delay the inevitable? Coal country is delaying the inevitable and that region of the country is stuck in a managed decline instead of retooling for the future.
I haven't seen an image of a 45 label in forever, Fun and nostalgic to see. And it is apropos that Stevie provided harmony on that song, because the entire vibe of the song reeks of Fleetwood Mac.
