So you pay way more money for a truck plus technology to self drive thst has to carry a person to replace a regular cheaper truck that also has a person. Genius!!! Net gain = O That is like installing a self service check out machine in the grocery and then having a person dedicated to man it. Net gain = 0.
Trucks are still in testing. My grocery store has one gal monitoring about 8 self checkouts. Maybe you're in a backwater market. Why you guys are fighting the inevitable just to somehow support minimum wage increases.
Yer not in the USA, are you? If you were, you'd know more about how it works here. Have a great holiday!
Because of this statement... There is no demand to go back to full service stations. The entire country wants away from pump jockeys. NJ and OR are outliers, and need to stop the madness.
IF fueling autonomous trucks becomes an issue, truck stops will most certainly get pump jockeys again. You think they are going to pass on their business? Fool
You are out of your mind! So you really think autonomous trucks will be able to cross-country haul while paying the occasional jockey a wage? What is the benefit for the trucking company and the TA locations which would have to be staffed at all hours of the day at the pump? When they get to the destination, they still have to stop moving, and humans will have to unload and reload the things. You are thinking Mr. Fusion™ level. We're not there yet, man. There is a reason this will never happen in airplanes. And it is the same reason it will never happen on the ground in trucks, because on the ground is more dangerous than in the air. Humans will always rule the cockpit of a plane, train or automobile, no matter the automation.
The benefit to the trucking company is that he gets to hook 2 or even 3 trailers to his cab and roll 24/7. The TA locations will see a decrease in non fuel revenues-food, showers, etc- so they better be ready to pump gas or what purpose will they serve?
